On July 6, 2013 David Yen along with other famous figures of the IT industry nearly died in accident of Boeing 777 belonging to Asiana Airline company which made hard landing at the airport of San Francisco. As a result of an incident among several hundred passengers of a board tens got injured varying severity and two people died on the spot. The situation was aggravated with the fire on the aircraft after landing, however, to rescuers it was succeeded to evacuate passengers till its beginning.

Yens announced that he became the involuntary witness of the tragedy on the ^[1] on Twitter. Right after the incident it published the following post: "We just made emergency landing in SFO. The tail is torn off. Majority as it should be. I am normal. It is unreal....".

Also the operating officer of Facebook Sheryl Sandberg together with colleagues became the passenger of the ill-fated run nearly. She reported about it in the personal blog on social network Facebook. By words Sandberg, on the ill-fated run they nearly received the tickets purchased for bonus miles. However, as a result offered them other board which landed for 20 minutes before wrecked.
