The Novosibirsk state philharmonic hall upgrades network infrastructure

Customers: Novosibirsk state philharmonic hall

Product: SCS projects and wireless network infrastructure

Project date: 2013/02  - 2013/06

Allied Telesis company together with Soft-Tronik Networking company completed the project on updating of network infrastructure of the Novosibirsk state philharmonic hall, reported the press services of partners on July 10, 2013.

Implementation basis

During the project for implementation of the tasks regarding a svetoperedacha, transfers of an audio-and video information of the concert hall and also connection of outdoor video surveillance cameras of the building of philharmonic hall were used switches of the third level: SwitchBlade x908 as the switch of a core of network and the boundary switches of x610 series with support of PoE+ provided by models with a configuration of ports: 24 and 48. X610 series devices with PoE support + have the free slot for the power supply that allowed to select the necessary budget of PoE.

Questions of reliability

For reliability augmentation of a core of network it is offered to customer to use two SwitchBlade x908 switches united in a stack that also simplified design of network and its configuring. SB x908 represents the 8-slot modular switch with a density of ports - 32 ports 10 GbE at compact physical sizes (3U). In total eight slots with capacity of 60 Gbps and two ports of stacking of 80 Gbps providing switching factory of the switch - 640 Gbps are provided in the device.

For connection to a core of network on h610 the built-in ports SFP+ 10 GE, and on SwitchBlade x908 expansion units were used: AT-XEM-2XS with two ports SFP+ 10GbE. A part of the equipment, for example, servers, it was connected directly to a stack from two SwitchBlade x908 using the 12-port gigabit modules AT-XEM-12T. Support of technology of the protected switched rings Ethernet (Ethernet Protection Switching Ring - EPSR) and modules with capacity of 10 GbE provided an opportunity to use SB x908 in combination with the x610 switches for creation of the protected ring with time of abnormal switching less than 50 ms.

For power supply on IP cameras, the x610 switches are equipped with different modular assemblies of a power supply. Depending on quantity and type of cameras are used respectively: The 800 W AT-PWR800 providing a system power supply on 250 W and 480 W for the equipment of PoE and the 1200 W AT-PWR1200 with a system power supply of 250 W and 780 W for PoE equipment. A part of the video cameras used in the project - the approximations, rotary with function, consuming up to 30 W that became one more criterion for benefit of the choice of switches with support of PoE+ technology.

The x610 switches were also selected thanks to a possibility of consolidation in a stack to eight devices, allowing to increase in the future number of ports, and the module of stacking AT-Stack XG provides capacity of a stack - 48 Gbps. Such approach allowed not only to lower costs and to provide fault tolerance, but also gave the chance to manage a stack as uniform network point, facilitating process of configuring and operation.

"Updating of the existing network infrastructure becomes one of priority tasks of many enterprises and organizations, including different cultural institutions, including the museums and concert halls recently, – Yury Belsky, the director of representative office of Allied Telesis in Russia and the CIS countries noted. – In the project for the Novosibirsk state philharmonic hall, in fact, the network was created again, taking into account the international standards and trends. And, it is one of several projects for the largest and the famous concert and the auditoriums of Russia opening the doors this year which were made using the solutions Allied Telesis. Reliability, fault tolerance, high capacity and energy efficiency at reasonable price remain the main requirements of customers and the solutions Allied Telesis completely correspond to them".
