Content

The Technoserv company announced on August 6, 2013 project completion of creation of a single system of monitoring of service platforms for JSC Mobile TeleSystems implementing solution on the EMC Smarts IP Performance Manager platform.

Basis of the project and scale

Within the project the Technoserv company performed a complex of works on design, implementation and start in operation of a monitoring system of VAS platforms of the customer. Project implementation took 6 months.

A system is constructed based on the industrial multivendor solution EMC Smarts and has ample opportunities on monitoring of the different network, computing equipment and applications using different methods of collecting of the event and configuration information – ICMP, SNMP, Syslog.

Project Progress

The single system of monitoring provides continuous operating control of work more than 100 different VAS platforms of the customer across all Russia, each of which is the unique hardware and software system having an own set of figures of merit of the provided services.

The monitoring system has a modular distributed architecture with ensuring georeservation of all regional components and local reservation of components of central module. The logical architecture of the solution is constructed on topology "star" with beams in the form of collectors in each macroregion as which collecting and primary analysis of "crude" data from VAS platforms of the region (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Novosibirsk, Vladivostok), and the central module in Moscow executing consolidation, aggregation and submission of all information collected by collectors enters.

Project Results

For August 6, 2013 more than 50 employees of Department of operation of MTS network of central office and macroregional divisions performing technical support of work of VAS platforms use a system. Technoserv provided training of specialists in use and administration of the implemented solution.

In the conditions of significant growth in additional services putting into operation of an automated system of monitoring allowed to lower load of personnel significantly. Due to use of mechanisms of deduplication, aggregation, filtering and correlation of events, intellectual methods of suppression of abnormal storm it was succeeded to reduce significantly the number of the events arriving to the operator that increased efficiency of reaction of personnel at emergence of emergency situations.

"Monitoring systems of technology infrastructure are the necessary tool for ensuring stability of work of systems, timely identification of potentially "narrow" places, planning of carrying out scheduled and repair work today and also determinations of need of development, upgrade and expansion of infrastructure, – Kirill Kushnarev, the associate director of Department of application solutions of Technoserv company noted. – The uniqueness of this project consisted in need of creation of a single system of monitoring for the staff of central office and all macroregional divisions of MTS that was difficult to be made as from the engineering, and managerial points of view. Standardization of solutions on control over smooth operation of the different VAS platforms constructed on software and hardware products more than 50 vendors that demanded from engineers of our company of laborious and serious work and also development of additional integration adapters was the most labor-consuming task in the technology roadmap".
