Technoserv: IT Crew (modular DPC)

The Technoserv company provided in August, 2013 own development – modular DPC "IT Crew". Development belongs to the new direction in activity of Technoserv - to IT solutions of high degree of readiness.

Modular DPC "IT the Crew" is a complete solution on the basis of quickly built constructions with the engineering systems and a possibility of unlimited scalability preset on manufacturing plant. The DPC gathers from standard elements – modules, each of which represents independent structural unit and consists of pair of same blocks: the server block intended for installation of the computing equipment, and the engineering block for ensuring smooth operation of active equipment of the server block.

The server block can include from 5 to 17 racks for placement of active equipment with a total power up to 170 kW of payload. The engineering block is expected ensuring life activity of one server block. The modular DPC is divided into the corresponding compartments and is completed with all necessary specialized systems, including the systems of the guaranteed power supply, maintenance of temperature moisture conditions, automatic control of computer systems and also fire protection systems, remote control, monitoring and video surveillance. The engineering systems are expected the round-the-clock smooth operation of modular DPC, they are predefined, adjusted and tested. The solution is developed according to the level of reservation of the engineering systems not below TIER-3 according to Uptime Institute. At operation smoothly running work of all systems of modular DPC requires the minimum participation of service staff.

and engineering blocks can be located as it is horizontal, following one after another, and vertically in two tiers with placement of the engineering equipment on the lower tier of construction that it is convenient for separations of access rights to an object of engineering and system personnel and economy of the occupied spaces in the conditions of urban development. Scaling of DPC happens by adding of new pair of blocks. At the same time joining of server blocks with creation of the uniform technology premises for installation of active equipment and also joining of engineering blocks for formation of the uniform engineering platform is possible. The modular DPC from several pairs of blocks can be complemented warehouse, administrative and approving blocks.

IT Crew in comparison with stationary is important advantage of building block solution mobility which is explained by simplicity of transportation of the separate standardized components and low quality requirements of the platform for placement. Also for creation of such DPC the minimum reconciliation procedures, small initial investments with preserving them are necessary at a re-deployment or building of IT infrastructure and short term of project implementation – from 20 to 26 weeks while creation of stationary DPC on the individual project averages not less 1.5 - 2.

"the IT Crew" is an optimal solution in need of fast deployment of IT infrastructure or its regular relocation, during creation of IT infrastructure on the remote platform (oil, gas, telecommunication companies), at gradual accumulation of capacities or reservations of stationary DPC of the company with territorial diversity of platforms. The flexible architecture provides a possibility of replacement or upgrade of elements of engineering infrastructure.

Potential customers of modular DPCs are as large business with the developed branch network and IT platforms on places: telecom operators, banks, insurance and transport companies, the industrial, extracting and processing enterprises, and the separate small companies, medical institutions, research institutes, higher education institutions which need own IT infrastructure for adequate money.

The calculations executed by specialists of Technoserv for the customers show that if the building under DPC is rented or purchased, then the modular DPC from blocks of the solution "IT Crew" will be 1.5-2 times cheaper. If the customer has own premises in which it is not necessary to do gain of overlappings, an overhaul, other construction works, then cost is comparable.
