The Ural State University of Railway Transport creates a corporate wireless network

In the territory of the Ural State University of means of communication, for ensuring communication between students and teachers from the different cities, the network on the basis of wireless Cisco technologies is unrolled, the press service of integrator in the project, Optivera company reported on August 30, 2013.

Project Background

The Ural State University of Railway Transport (URGUPS) for ensuring communication between students and teachers from the different cities, set the task of providing Internet access from any point in territories URGUPS.

The contractor the project included Optivera company.

Project Progress

The Optivera company prepared the project of deployment of network without cable laying to each workstation, it helped to reduce the cost of deployment and expansion of network.

The technological solution is implemented on the platform of the wireless equipment Cisco:

• access points of Cisco Aironet 1040 of a series are the ideal solution for the project. The access point 802.11n is specially developed for simple development and energy efficiency and also it works on Power Over Ethernet (PoE) technology
• wireless Wi-Fi the Cisco AIR-CT5508-100-K9 controller represents the multifunctional device allowing to manage with ease the connected access points

Active network equipment for switching of communication hubs of Cisco:

• the series Cisco switches Catalyst 2960 with the software of LAN Base,
• safety of content is ensured by the system of Clean sheet which controls the maintenance of the information streams transferred and received from network.

Project resources

• more than 50 km of a cable
• 600 access points
• 10 teams of assemblers (more than 80 specialists)

Own network of URGUPS integrated in the Ural Federal District:

• 9 branches in the cities: Yekaterinburg, Nizhny Tagil, Kurgan, Chelyabinsk, Zlatoust, Tyumen, Perm, Kartala,
• 27 buildings,
• more than 15 thousand subscribers.
