State Academic Mariinsky Theatre (Services of telephony and communication)

In September, 2013 announced JSC Mobile TeleSystems implementation of the large-scale project on ensuring communication in the building of a new stage of the Maryinsky Theater (Mariinsky-2).

The MTS company of the first of telecom operators provided the building Mariinsky-2 with a qualitative indoor-system: on specially developed project in premises of a new scene a modern active antenna-feeder system was installed. The operation principle of a system is based on conversion of a radio signal of base stations of cellular communication to an optical signal, its transfer on optical fiber and inverse transformation to a radio signal. For the organization of such system more than 1 kilometer of a fiber-optic cable, more than 4 kilometers of a radio cable were used, in the building more than 200 antennas are installed. Installation of this system will allow to provide high data transfer rates in networks 2G and 3G and also offers prospect of development of LTE networks.

"According to statistical data, about 50% of wireless traffic form in only 10% of objects of a commercial real estate – such as shopping centers, airports, large office buildings, etc. At the same time such buildings – the new stage of the Maryinsky Theater also belongs to them – owing to design features are often not adapted for high-quality acceptance of a radio signal from external base stations. Therefore for the steady signal level in a new scene we installed the active distributed antenna system which allows to solve problems of improvement of communication quality without installation of additional base stations. Thus, we provided higher quality of a voice communication, data transfer rate, lack of noises and ruptures of connection in the building of a new scene that will always allow the staff of theater and visitors to stay in touch", – the technical director of MTS "Northwest" emphasized Smirnov Dmitry.

"Mariinsky-2, located between Kryukov Canal and Minsky Lane on intersection with Dekabristov Street, it is technically very difficult arranged. At theater seven is elevated and three underground floors. The scenic complex includes three platforms — the main scene, an aryerstsena and a rehearsal scene and also two pockets of a scene of slightly smaller area, – told the press attache of the Maryinsky Theater Oksana Tokranova. – In such difficult designed building standard technological solutions are not suitable for ensuring communication therefore we selected MTS company which organized to us high-quality mobile communication in the building. Using MTS we not only had an opportunity to freely use mobile communication, being in the building Mariinsky-2, but also administrative services of theater provided with fixed connection and Internet access".
