Tektronix QCloud

The Tektronix company, producer of control and measuring solutions for video production and television, announced in September, 2013 release of a new cloud software platform for quality control of QCloud which is optimized for deployment in Amazon Web Services (AWS). QCloud is the first solution for quality control of content on a file basis which works in cloud infrastructure. This solution completely meets the requirements of quality control in a production process and installation of TV of programs, broadcasting and providing video services online using file video content on AWS and other cloud platforms.

Processing of content software tools of quality control is the standard practice applied by all companies occupied in the field of production and distribution of video programs. But process of quality control spends many computing resources and requires big investment costs. The solution QCloud allows providers of video services to replace model of capital costs with the model of operating costs allowing to distribute these expenses during a long interval. QCloud also helps to solve a problem of processing of short-term peak loads with which the solution for Tektronix Cerify quality control does not cope. QCloud gives an opportunity to the big and small companies for scaling of a system and operating costs according to the budget and requirements due to application of the model of licensing based on working loading. At placement of content in cloud storage systems of QCloud simplifies process of transfer of video content in local quality control systems.

Being a partner of the program Amazon AWS Partner Network (APN), QCloud is a cloud solution for quality control which processes the file video content placed on AWS S3 platform and used by many providers of video services and also creators of content and broadcasters. It allows providers and creators of content it is easy to integrate QCloud into any cloud systems. Integrated into a cloud, QCloud does not demand from users of equipment expenses, allowing to use AWS platform resources as required, eliminating the need for large initial investments and minimizing housekeeping overheads and operation of the equipment.

This solution provides the round-the-clock operability of control facilities of quality, providing the following advantages:

• the technical compatibility allowing quality control departments to focus on a key part of the problem and on subjective requirements;
• the approved and comprehensive control of the entering and transcoded video files on a certain user to templates;
• compatibility with requirements of regulating documents, such as Legal act CALM, EBU R128 of the USA, Canadian laws on subtitlings, English OfCom and Japanese NAB Photo-Sensitive Epilepsy (PSE);
• the automatic correction of volume of sound and peak values of volume increasing efficiency of workflow and reducing primary investments and operating costs;
• detection of the fragments causing distortions in video flows according to requirements of Photo-Sensitive Epileptic (PSE);
• support of integration into video servers, automation systems and MAM/DAM through SOAP API.
