Project date: 2013/04

The AnyLogic company announced in September, 2013 that the software product of the company of the same name is used for check of operability of stations of a small ring of Moscow Railway (MR).

The project on simulation modeling of the transport hubs (TH) of a small ring of the Moscow Railway was custom-made by ITS Consulting company of "Moscow Little Ring Railway" (MLRR) within the project on reconstruction and development of a small ring. Simulation models are used for testing of capacity of projectible complexes and development of recommendations about their improvement, told CNews in AnyLogic. So, it is planned that trains of a small ring will annually transport more than 250 million passengers.

Modeling of TPU "Cherkizovo" which will integrate the metro station, the Moscow Little Ring Railway station and land transport became the first stage of the project. The model developed in the environment of simulation modeling of AnyLogic reproduces movements of pedestrians in TPU and their interaction with system elements (for example, services for sale of tickets) and also collects statistics on load of separate elements.

The task to reveal the limiting elements limiting capacity of a node was set for consultants (corridors, ladders, escalators, tourniquets, cash desks, vending machines of tickets, etc.). Work of a node was considered as normal if at the maximum loading on a passenger traffic for the studied time frame (rush hour from 8 a.m. till 9 a.m.) there did not occur difficulties at movement of passengers on a complex and their service in services, noted in AnyLogic.

The model detected possibility of jams near cash desks at increase in traffic as they are on the way of the main flow of passengers — on the following course to tourniquets. Nevertheless, modeling confirmed that the considered planning solution of TPU "Cherkizovo" completely copes with the set loading (more than 36 thousand passengers for an hour) and has a stock on the limiting elements. Besides, based on model of TPU "Cherkizovo" researches of behavior of passengers at emergence of emergency situations of technology character (failure of the escalator, a tourniquet, closing of cash desks, etc.) will be conducted and in need of evacuation. Also consultants developed standard models of transfer nodes which are already now used by the staff of the Moscow Little Ring Railway for verification of project solutions at other stations.

It is expected that the start of passenger traffic on a small ring of the Moscow Railway planned for 2016 will reduce tension on a road network of Moscow and to unload public transport. On the road 31 stopping points from which 19 will become the large transport hubs servicing different types of public transport will be equipped.
