BodyGuardian Remote Patient Monitoring System (BodyGuardian RMS)

Product
Developers: Prevenctice
Branches: Pharmaceutics, medicine, health care

The system of remote monitoring of patients, BodyGuardian Remote Patient Monitoring SystemTM (BodyGuardian RMS) which is made by Prevenctice Inc. company, one of bright examples of implementation and use of the latest technologies in the conditions of need of increase in efficiency of work of health workers and cost reduction. So, according to Department on work with elderly people of the USA, growth and age of the American population by 2020 will demand 22% of an employment increase of therapists. And it will lead to increase in number of medical personnel up to 90,000 thousand people (according to Association of medical colleges of the USA).

According to data of Berg Insights analytical company, 2.8 million people in the USA I use remote medical monitoring. And this digit by 2017 will steadily grow, especially among patients with heart diseases, patients for whom monitoring during sleep and also among patients who use telemedicine services is necessary.

Solutions of m-Health considerably cut down expenses of medical institutions. Given the last report of Deloitte for Health Solutions confirm a possibility of cost reduction on health care in the USA for 200 billion dollars in the next 25 years at a term of use of the latest technologies.

The BodyGuardian RMS system was developed in cooperation with Mayo clinic and uses modern algorithms for remote monitoring of patients with cardiac arrhythmia. BodyGuardian RMS allows the therapist to trace the key biometric indicators of the patient who leads a normal life out of walls of clinic. The tiny sensor which is attached on the patient's body reads out such important data as, the ECG, pulse, breath and level of activity of the patient. This information is transferred to the doctor to the mobile device. Thus, patients always are under control of medical personnel.

The systems of remote monitoring of patsinet, similar BodyGuardian RMS, will be able to help with treatment and diagnosis of an atrial fibrillation, the most common form of cardiac arrhythmia, transferring data of the ECG and pulse of patients, during their normal life. According to data of the American Association of health now in the country about 6 million people with the similar diagnosis, and by 2050 their quantity can grow from 12 to 15 million.

The BodyGuardian Remote Monitoring System (RMS) is a cutting edge approach to patient monitoring that includes a non-intrusive, wearable body sensor that allows physicians to monitor a patient’s physiological data from anywhere at anytime.

bodyguardianplacementDeveloped in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, this FDA-cleared system uses sophisticated algorithms to support remote monitoring for individuals with non-lethal cardiac arrhythmias. BodyGuardian RMS allows physicians to monitor key biometrics outside of the clinical setting, while patients go about their daily lives. Important physiologic data is securely collected by a small, wearable body sensor and transmitted to physicians. It maintains a constant connection between patients and their care teams.

BodyGuardian RMS includes the Preventice Care Platform™, a cloud-based mHealth platform that collects real-time data from devices and delivers information to medical monitoring professionals.

BodyGuardian RMS detects and monitors non-lethal cardiac arrhythmias in ambulatory patients, when prescribed by a physician or other qualified healthcare professional. The BodyGuardian System continuously records, stores and periodically transmits the following physiological data to a remote computer server for up to 30 days at a time:

  • ECG
  • Heart rate (including HR variability and HR reliability)
  • Respiration rate
  • Activity
  • Preventice has licensed BodyGuardian’s remote monitoring algorithms from Mayo Clinic. The technology allows individuals to remain active and independent while their heart and general health are being monitored with a simple and discreet body-worn sensor that adheres to the patient’s skin. The bandage-like sensor carries a small battery operated monitor, so the patient has complete mobility, going about their normal life without restrictions.

The BodyGuardian wearable sensor reads the patient’s biometrics, sending the data via wireless and smartphone technology to the Preventice Care Platform. Physicians and medical professionals can then securely view the captured medical information wherever they are with devices such as an iPad® or the web. It is intended for monitoring in clinical situations that are not life threatening. The physician can retrieve the patient’s data and reports or choose to receive alerts based on changes in select biometrics.
