HP announced in September, 2013 goad HP Data Privacy Services – a set of IT services on protection of vulnerable data and management of them which helps to reduce risks, to improve management of lifecycle of the saved information and to provide compliance to the state regulatory requirements.

Health facilities and banks should be protected from the security risks increasing risk of unauthorized access to personal data or violations of their integrity. Besides, the organizations should fulfill strictly the regulatory requirements which became tougher recently to data protection. The American law on data protection of HIPAA medical institutions, the directive on data protection for the countries of the European Union and the law on protection of vulnerable data adopted in 2011 in India are among such requirements.

According to the amendment to HIPAA of 2013, storage life of the personal information used in the American medical institutions changed and penalties for violation of legislative arrangements are toughened. Services of HP of Data Privacy Services will help to fulfill the new requirements. The HP company called in the report of Ponemon Institute by the leading solution provider for confidential data protection has all necessary that customers could manage vulnerable data and protect them, including save or delete information on the operated or written off hardware component parts where the information about patients of medical clinics can contain.

Data, crucial for business, can remain in the most different places, including on replaceable component parts, motherboards and in a system memory. HP offers two services allowing to reduce risks of security and to provide confidentiality of vulnerable data:

• HP Defective Media Retention (DMR) allows to retain control over the data which remained on the hard drive after its failure. The employee of a support service of HP will carry out diagnostics of a problem and will send to the customer of technical specialists for replacement of the hard drive or other component parts;
• HP Comprehensive Defective Material Retention (CDMR) allows to save the data which were on defective component parts irrespective of location of these data at the time of failure.
