The ATK consulting group announced in September, 2013 start of an implementation project of BI of the QlikView Business Discovery system in Orange Business Services. QlikView will become the main platform for the analysis of marginality of clients and also the analysis of billing data of Orange Business Services.
Orange Business Services is the division of Orange working at business market: leading global integrator of telecommunication solutions for the multinational companies. The world's largest homogeneous network of voice transmission and data of Orange Business Services covers 220 countries and territories, with local support in 166 countries. Orange Business Services in Russia is the only international supplier of complete integration telecommunication solutions having own developed infrastructure, a broad set of licenses and being the longhaul national operator. 1000 employees of the company work in 36 large cities of Russia, representations in Almaty, Kiev and Minsk are open. Homogeneous IP Orange Business Services MPLS network with communication hubs in the largest cities of Russia and the CIS allows to provide hi-tech telecommunication services in the territory of the whole country.
Optimization of work of Orange Business Services required the new tool of the analysis of large volume of data on client services, hundreds of millions of records. Earlier the staff of the company used static reports and when they was not enough, - the customized reports created by IT specialists on the basis of unloadings from the database with the subsequent analysis in Excel. Such reporting system demanded big labor costs over time. Therefore the company management made the decision on business intelligence system implementation for change of the current analytical reporting of the company.
Orange Business Services considered several suppliers of the analytical systems. "At some point BI tools which we considered crashed into two camps - "well, but it is expensive" and "well, but requires many resources". Then the ATK consulting group suggested us to test QlikView, - Vladimir Valkovich, the Head of Department of technical development and operation of Orange Business Services in Russia and the CIS comments on the choice of the solution. - At the cost of the QlikView system got to category "well", and implementation should not have demanded considerable resources – the fact that it was necessary for us. Having independently constructed the first report, we made sure of the speed of setup and entered QlikView to our short-list BI solutions"
Upon completion of independent testing of QlikView by specialists of Orange Business Services, it was offered to ATK consulting group to carry out a pilot project of implementation. The analysis of marginality of clients and company services became a task of the pilot. The specialist of ATK consulting group helped to optimize own developments of analysts of the customer, using the best practices of visualization and work with Big Data. Then analysts of Orange Business Services within a month tested the application and came to a conclusion that QlikView is capable to help them with processing of large volumes of data and obtaining the flexible reporting.
"The specialist of ATC spent at us only 1.5 days and offered the tool which corresponded to our tasks. Already during the pilot we began to use analytics of QlikView in practice to see the value and dynamics of marginality on each client, the operator, the direction of business and specific service", - Vladimir Valkovich continues.
Orange Business Services is going to develop the QlikView application on marginality analytics. At the same time access to the application will appear at financial analysts, specialists of department of interaction with operators and also specialists of marketing departments and sales. The plans of Orange Business Services are creation of analytics on the basis of data of a billing system for service improvement and rates and also the analysis of statistics of network for optimization of load of communication channels and timely prevention of network.
