2020: Automation of work with information on products and production technologies

On July 21, 2020 it became known what Cherepovets iron and steel works (CherMK, is a part Severstal The Russian of steel division) started automated control system Technology based on SAP ERP. This solution serves for collecting and development information about products and technologies of the company for further planning and execution of production. A system is developed by specialists "Severstal-infokom" in cooperation with a command SAP Services CIS and experts of directorates of Severstal company.

Technology represents to an ACS the uniform centralized tool which serves for management of all normative technology data of the company in a production process and sales of metal products. In particular, the program is designed to substitute paper document flow and also to increase efficiency of data transmission and to reduce influence of a human factor in the course of introduction, storages and information processing.

Earlier, if there was a need to correct the production technology of a product or to develop another, employees needed to make manually the document and then to transfer it to the special working group for entering of data into information systems. The ACS Technology allows the technologist independently and to quickly enter adjustments or information into the system at the expense of what the quantity of errors is considerably reduced.

It is planned that thanks to the IT tool time for introduction of adjustments will be reduced a minimum twice. The second feature of a system is that it allows to select automatically necessary technology under customer requirements (the sizes, mechanical properties, chemical composition, etc.).

The pilot version of the information solution is tested in the course of joint work of production of high-quality rolled metal of CherMK and the enterprises of Severstal-metiz company. The first ACS Technology specialists in input and technical examination of orders, operational planning of production and shop personnel began to apply. The test period will allow to check the accuracy of reflection of all necessary business processes in a system. Other divisions of CherMK are expected to be connected to a system to the middle of 2021.

A system completely meets the increased requirements to storage and data processing. The implemented solution allows to develop quicker technologies, to automate technical expertize of orders, to increase the speed of replies to the requests of clients. If earlier workers accompanied such processes manually, then after implementation for orders of production of high-quality rolled metal a system itself selects all possible options of production. We expect also obtaining internal effects – in decrease in volumes superfluous suitable and single swimming trunks, use of this technical solution in questions of an adherence to deadlines of shipment and work with not mounting positions, - the director of technical development and quality of the Severstal Russian Steel division Pyotr Mishnev comments.

Difficult situation in economy and growth of the competition change the relation of the large companies to planning tools and managements. In many respects thanks to automation of routine processes and quality improvement of analytics it is possible to reveal opportunities for business development and accumulation of sales volumes. Severstal actively uses all potential of digital-technologies of SAP that helps the company to interact more effectively with clients, using the customized approach, to control risk management and to provide the high level of efficiency in work, - Andrey Sharak notes, the director of consulting and support of SAP CIS[1].
