The port of Le Havre uses a simulation model in the construction project

On October 7, 2013 the AnyLogic company announced project completion of creation of a simulation model of the French port of Le Havre.

Project objective - preparation of information materials for creation of the new multimodal terminal in the territory of port.

Project Progress

The simulation model of the port of Le Havre will allow to execute comparison of two versions of the equipment for the organization of intra port logistics: the traditional rolling stocks and structures consisting of independent groups of cars.

The developed simulation model reproduces work of port in the set time span and gives an assessment of different characteristics. Functionality of model allows to set time of arrival/sending each container, arrival/departure of trains, to change values of characteristics of technology equipment (motion speed, time of processing of a container), to execute dynamic registration of fullness of storage areas of containers on terminals and also figures of merit of service of containers, to perform dynamic calculation of costs for functioning of terminals and the rolling stock for separate articles and totally.

Using the developed model, the management of the port of Le Havre could select the most optimal option of the organization of intra port rail transportation in terms of the minimum costs and also estimate the necessary number of units of the rolling stock.
