Date of the premiere of the system: 2013/10/03
Technology: IaaS is Infrastructure as service

Verizon Cloud Compute is a cloud service of IaaS, it is intended for receiving services of computing powers of VM on demand.

On October 3, 2013 the Verizon company announced start of new cloud services.

Verizon Terremark has DPCs in all territory of the USA, in the Netherlands and Brazil.

Platform

The Verizon Cloud Compute service is provided on the basis of virtual machines under control of Xen hypervisor. The VM resource will be available on the basis of an hourly pay for use. Users will have an opportunity of the choice of level of service (SLA) and architecture of software-defined data Center.

Infrastructure of Verizon Enterprise Cloud will be created on the basis of servers of calculations with RAMS 4 TB and 100 TB of disk space - at the rate on 50-100 virtual machines. Advantage to users, unlike competitors - it is possible to set the size of resources of servers on demand, without the discrete levels.

Strengths: In 2013 the company submitted the beta of the Verizon Cloud which will provide broader spectrum of options of use. "Though Verizon Cloud has innovative architecture, the company needs to be provided more, than only the efficient platform of cloud IaaS and the related network services to implement the ambitions in a cloud", - Gartner writes in 2014.

What should be considered: Verizon throws down a challenge to the companies with stronger resources of development, but accepted strategy which relies upon development of own software and tools. Such situation means that Verizon Cloud will make success if is able to develop with sufficient speed to answer the changing market demands. As notes Gartner, it "non-standard strategy for the company which is owned by the telecommunication operator".
