Donbassenergo creates the development strategy IT

On November 5, 2013 the company Ink announced completion of strategy development of development of IT infrastructure for Donbassenergo.

Project Tasks

By the beginning of the project in Donbassenergo company there was no uniform strategy of IT. In each of company assets of service IT worked according to the vision of development uncoordinated to general strategy of development of the company.

Top management and the IT management of Donbassenergo showed interest in upgrade of work of IT departments and transition to higher level of a maturity of processes for providing IT services necessary for business of quality, flexibility and stability of the developed and supported systems, ensuring effective interaction. Solving the listed problems it is necessary to carry out the assessment of the existing status of IT and preparation of recommendations for further development according to business objectives of the company and corporate standards.

Project Progress

Within the project the analysis of a current status of management processes of IT, elements of IT infrastructure and the organization of service IT is made. Identification of the existing problems and risks is carried out, recommendations to their elimination are developed.

28 interviews on different assets of the enterprise are conducted. The project began with the analysis of the existing management processes of IT at the enterprise and the used business applications. Important it was represented, to reveal - as far as management processes of IT satisfy to business needs and conform to ISO 20000, the best practices of ITIL v.3, Cobit 5.

Inspection of IT infrastructure included assessment of a status of servers, communication channels and other IT equipment which is used in the company. As a result of such assessment the card of the existing infrastructure was developed.

In the project progress Cobit methodology was applied to detection of business needs, and for assessment of level of a maturity of IT infrastructure the methodology of Microsoft Infrastructure Optimization Model is used.

The company Ink used the model Zakhman for studying and documentation of an information architecture of the company. In this model, unlike traditional approach of the "lifecycle" connected with use of the concept when separate aspects of a system are considered separately during different time frames, the possibility of the consecutive description of each element of a system in coordination with all others is provided.

Project Results

Project deliverable - formation of the Development strategy IT of Donbassenergo.

In the document results of inspection of a current status of IT are given in the enterprise, recommendations about upgrade and improvement of management processes of IT in the form of the program of projects are made.

All projects are classified according to three directions of development:

• business applications;
• IT infrastructure and management processes of IT.

For each of them keyword parameters are determined:

• goal,
• stages,
• results,
• estimated value and interrelation with other projects.

Also within this project both the target, and transitional organizational and role structure of service IT is developed.

Assessment of a current status of IT received in a project deliverable helped to reveal shortcomings and omissions of the working model. It is supposed that the developed complex of actions will help to increase efficiency, transparency and controllability of work of IT department of Donbassenergo company.
