Tele2 Russia implements the most advanced DWH

On November 25, 2013 the Technoserv company reported: Tele2 Russia in partnership about Technoserv completed the project on improvement of performance level of IT infrastructure of the operator on the platform of the solution Hitachi Flash Module Drive. For November 25, 2013 implementation of Hitachi Flash Module Drive in Tele2 Russia is considered the first in the country.

Project Tasks

Rapid growth of volumes of business and systematic increase in a subscriber base of Tele2 Russia demanded performance improvement of the computing infrastructure providing functioning of a billing system. Besides, according to the IT strategy of the operator it is necessary to provide a technology basis for transition to new means of automatic control of disk space and data protection of Oracle Automatic Storage Management and Oracle Data Guard for increase in efficiency and reliability of infrastructure.

Project Progress

For the solution of assigned tasks the Technoserv company suggested to implement the Hitachi Flash Module Drive (FMD) system and the product Hitachi Dynamic Tiering, using earlier installed equipment. In comparison with SSD disks the modules FMD provide twice the big density of data storage and four times high capacity, and on performance exceed solid state drives by 4 times. Thanks to technology advantages of the innovation Flash Module Drive system substantial increase of performance of databases was reached without significant expansion of infrastructure of the operator: only one server cabinet is added to earlier installed equipment. Transition to a new failsafe solution is executed in the "seamless" mode, with the minimum idle time of services.

Project Results

Operation of the new platform allowed to reduce costs for administration due to failure from manual operations on distribution of disk resources and transfer of "hot" data in billing settlement process. Thanks to automation of these and other processes risks of the errors and failures connected with "a human factor" significantly decreased.
