On December 4, 2013 the HID Global company announced the large-scale updating in a line of FARGO Direct-to-Card (DTC) printers which allowed to expand possibilities of release of the protected maps for small medium and large business and also the state organizations. A system allows to create at the same time identification data, to control access, to issue payment cards and cards of loyalty.

One of the most popular lines of printers and FARGO DTC encoders in the market is followed by the built-in multifunction modules of enciphering of iCLASS SE now that simplifies migration on other systems of protection and allows to create big circulations of the personalized cards, using the same printers. A series of DTC printers also has enhanced capabilities on personalisation, allowing to reach higher speeds and to provide flexibility of work by means of optionally available module of wireless communication which allows to print cards anywhere and when necessary.

Further improvements of the line of HID Global DTC which proved the efficiency were made for acceleration of process and improvement of quality of card issue and certificates. Now identification products became even easier to be created and personalized, it is equal how to issue large volumes of cards, trying to obtain performance improvement of all process due to application of the whole range of new features, such as the increased security, coding and mobile printing. Among key features of new products:

  • Programming/data coding for physical access control: HID Global FARGO DTC printers can work together with multifunction module of enciphering of iCLASS SE which provides all necessary functions for creation of certificates, enciphering, their personalisation and management of ID cards of big bases – and all this on only one printer. Such approach allows to reduce complexity of administrative procedures and to save on acquisition of the additional hardware. The DTC models simplify process of migration from the current, not so effective technologies of creation of certificates, such as magnetic stripe cards, to high-frequency smart cards and also support technologies which will be used for identification already in the near future. On each certificate unique information on the company and the employee can be ciphered and also interaction with a broad spectrum of control systems of physical access worldwide, depending on permissions determined for each specific card is programmed. Users can accelerate process of the order of cards, inventory and also release of certificates, saving the maximum flexibility of process, security and complete control.
  • Higher of a print speed: New, much more high-speed DTC printers allow to increase efficiency of process of creation of cards considerably. They allow to issue up to 50% more cards for the selected time in comparison with earlier DTC models and also raising for 50% a bar of possible speed of creation of cards across the industry.
  • Mobile printing 'when necessary and anywhere': The improved DTC printers provide to users flexible tools on creation of cards in any place and any time. Using the software of HID Global Asure ID and the tablet with the Windows 8 Pro operating system you can create cards by means of the optional module Wi-fi which can be connected to any FARGO DTC printer / encoder, excepting need of existence of the equipment cable Ethernet and wall jacks for connection. This solution provides wide feature set for safe and operational creation of certificates on demand and printings "in field conditions". The used solutions allow to add also on certificates the barcodes, logos and different full-color images capable to make cards really unique.

Four models of the printers providing all necessary for fast, available and safe issue of ID cards enter into the HID Global FARGO DTC family. Each printer supports enciphering of AES-256 and can be used together with the iCLASS SE encoder and also supports the wireless modules HID Global Wi-fi for mobile creation and release of certificates.

  • Monochrome FARGO DTC1000Me printer: differs in the most compact size in a segment of black-and-white printers;
  • Color printer of FARGO DTC1250e: the fastest printer in the class allowing users to create up to 50% more cards with full-color printing for the same period makes performance to 225 cards per hour;
  • Professional color printers of FARGO DTC4250e and DTC4500e: differ in improvements in the field of security, including optional hoppers and blocking (DTC4500e) and also password protection of the printer. These high-performance printers / encoders have the Ethernet interface and can use new technologies, simplifying thereby transition to the modern security levels, such as holographic printing, fluorescent coverings and double-sided drawing. DTC4500e also differs in the best parameters of cost of one print and is ideal for fast and volume coding of the safe, protected from fraud certificates.

HID Global Fargo DTC4500e

The range of devices of HID Global company filled up in the fall of 2014 the professional Fargo DTC4500e printer for thermosublimation printing on plastic cards including on the smart cards used in access control systems. For work with the large volume of identifiers the printer of smart cards is equipped with an output tray on 200 cards and uses printing tapes of the increased length. Using the optional modules DTC4500e can perform two-sided printing on cards and also their coding and lamination. Besides, this printer supports Wi-Fi and is equipped with the LCD display for an output of the service information. The technology of printing DTC (Direct-to-Card) used in DTC4500e provides drawing the high-quality image directly on the surface of smart cards with a thermosublimation method. At the same time the new thermo printer of smart cards is expected printing on the procurements executed of PVC or of polyester with the polished covering from PVC and also can apply a print and on 100% polyester when using one-color polymeric tapes. It should be noted that the original printing tapes intended for installation in this printer allow to apply twice more full-color images, than the majority of consumables of other producers of printers with similar functionality.

DTC4500e is intended for daily printing of large batches of smart cards. For performance improvement it is equipped with the entrance tray expected 100 plastic cards 0.762 mm thick and uses the output drive on 200 cards. If necessary, the printer of smart cards can be integrated into network infrastructure of the enterprise and to manage printing process from remote PCs via the Ethernet interface or on Wi-Fi, and its remote diagnostics is performed using the Fargo Workbench program. Important advantage of innovation is support of the Color Assist tool using which the printer allows to select special colors for exact printing of such images as logos of the companies.

  • 1 XLIFFService: The request channel timed out while waiting for a reply after 00:01:00. Increase the timeout value passed to the call to Request or increase the SendTimeout value on the Binding. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout.

For process control of personalisation of DTC4500e smart cards supports different software products of HID Global company including Asure ID software. This program provides a full stroke of works with cards, from development of the prototype design of the image before management of printing and coding, using the new printer of smart cards and other Fargo devices. Asure ID provides also management of databases, support of different templates for plastic cards, drawing a barcode, batch print, programming via the printer of a magnetic band and also formation of different types of the user reports.

Modular construction of DTC4500e allows to increase functionality of processing of smart cards different options. The basic complete set of the device includes the module of one-sided printing which can be complemented with the module of two-sided printing. Also, the printer of smart cards and badges can be supplied with the module one - or bilateral lamination with drawing holograms which increase degree of protection of cards against falsification. When retrofitting by the module-programmatorom the printer is capable to code plastic cards with a magnetic band, the contact and contactless identifiers iCLASS SE, MIFARE, etc. Besides, it supports data processing in the form of objects of SIO (Secure Identity Object) and is compatible to the system of physical access control (HID PACS).
