NIISK of V.P. Barmin prepares a prototype of the IT system of management of a starting complex

On December 19, 2013 the Borlas consulting group announced readiness of the project on creation of a prototype of the IT system of management of electronic operational documentation of a starting complex Union (SK "Union") at the Baikonur spaceport. As the customer in the project "The research institute of starting complexes of V.P. Barmin" (NIISK) acted.

Project Tasks

Works are aimed at providing transition to use of the modern interactive managements and 3D models instead of paper carriers at service and preparation of space starts. A system has no analogs in the industry and is intended for creation of digital models and electronic documentation of objects of land space infrastructure.

For December, 2013 in operation there are six SK "Union". Each of them – an object of a unique configuration, with own structure of systems and a set of the accompanying documentation, up to 20 thousand pages. The complexity and labor input of daily work with it are caused not only a large number of the collected documents, but need of permanent accounting of changes, their entering into documentation at operation and upgrade of a complex. The situation, often, is aggravated with the shortage of skilled staff that raises an error probability. The translation of documentation in an electronic form, providing convenient searching tools and work, visualization of key components of starting complexes by means of implementation of a specialized IT system to a large extent will allow to solve these problems.

Project Progress

The project is executed within the Federal space program of Russia for 2006 - 2015. His customer - "Research institute of starting complexes of V.P. Barmin" (NIISK). The relevance of deployment of such information systems is connected with need of transition to modern formats of technical documentation at operation of objects of land space infrastructure, including using the interactive managements and 3D models. The first prototype of systems is created for SK "Union".

Specialists of NIISK and Borlas a number of first-priority works for creation of a complex of management of interactive electronic operational documentation (KU IEED) for SK "Union" located at Baikonur Cosmodrome is executed.

Within the project:

  • the technical proposal on KU IEED is developed and approved;
  • test program implementation of a fragment of the instruction of a starting complex is executed;
  • approbation of a test fragment by representatives of NIISK is carried out;
  • procedures of preparation of initial data for formation of a 3D model are fulfilled;
  • the algorithm of filling of the uniform knowledge base on SK "Union" is prepared.

As a part of the architecture KU IEED offered by Borlas several components. For work with graphic contents, including interactive 3D - animation, the products Cortona3D are used. Control functions by lifecycle of SK "Union" and its documentation will be implemented on the solution Teamcenter of Siemens PLM Software company. Their integration helps to automate completely problems of creation, control, release and support of electronic documentation in the environment of support of product lifecycle. A system uses the commonly accepted formats of data visualization for transfer and work with other systems.
