On February 5, 2014 it became known of implementation in city administration of Tula of the software solution Microsoft Lync 2013.
Project Tasks
In city administration of Tula more than 1 thousand people, 800 of them – PC users work. The organization set the task for itself: reduce costs for telephone communication, business trips and to provide operational communication between employees. As information and technical support of activity of administration of Tula is performed on the basis of technologies of Microsoft, is decided to use new Microsoft Lync 2013.
Set the task of cost reduction on communication and business trips for IT specialists of city administration of Tula, having provided operational communications between the employees working in different districts of the city.
After assessment of possible candidate solutions, IT specialists of administration stopped the choice on Microsoft Lync technology.
"Microsoft Lync interested us as did not require big costs in comparison with solutions of similar level which are in the market, provided a single system of communications and was integrated with other technologies of Microsoft which are already used by us", – Alexey Grechishnikov, the head of information technology of city administration of Tula noted.
Project implementation was decided to be enabled with involvement of SoftExpert group.
Project Progress
The project is complete within a month. The uniform reference book by employees is created, Microsoft Lync is integrated with the Microsoft Exchange 2013 mail server. Jointly with specialists of SoftExpert group a server part of the solution is set, applications on computers of users were installed by IT specialists of administration. All Microsoft Lync installed in 50 workplaces.
Project Results
Employees got access to safe instant messaging, the possibility of communication through voice and video conference, including from mobile devices on different platforms appeared. The management of administration can see a presence status of the person in a workplace and quickly contact it being in any place. The administration considers that use of a system on the Microsoft Lync platform accelerated processes of communication between employees more than for 40%, the share of use of mobile communication for the solution of working questions was reduced by 50%.
Within implementation training of technical specialists in creation of new user profiles with differentiation of the rights in a directory service is provided.
On the next stage of an implementation project of Microsoft Lync in city administration of Tula it is going to increase the number of users to 800 and to organize unified communication environment with departmental geographically distributed divisions of administration.
