MDM Bank (IBM FlashSystem 820)

On February 12, 2014 IBM and MDM Bank announced upgrade of IT infrastructure of bank using DWH of IBM Flash System.

The project is implemented by forces of IT department of MDM Bank and specialists of IBM. It is complete in the fourth quarter 2013.

Project Progress

Implementation of the first stage of the project with use of technologies of IBM completed in February, 2014 allowed "MDM Bank" provide disaster tolerance of the key the automated banking systems (ABS) of bank — RBO and IBSO, to reduce time for creation of a test environment and also practically to lift limits for quantity of test environments that considerably increased efficiency of application development.

During the second stage of the project it was necessary to provide the reliable and economic platform for such critical applications of bank as the system of issuance of credits, the processing systems, systems for collectors and CRM. Also within the project it was necessary to provide optimization of TCO of the current infrastructure and to accelerate report generation.

It is sure that the key to success of solutions on storage and data protection from IBM consists in a high ratio of performance, scalability, functionality cost, exclusive reliability and flexibility of the solution and also readiness for any changes of business needs".

Result

As a result of project implementation it was succeeded to increase storage capacity by 1.7 times, thereby having postponed purchase of the new equipment not less than for two next years. Performance improvement made from 40% to 600% for different tasks. As a result of reduction of quantity it is resistant - places in DPC, the space occupied by the solution decreased five times. Electricity consumption by DPC decreased on 20 kvatt in comparison with the period to project implementation that allowed to save costs significantly. A system can be also scaled on the capacity and performance more than four times, so, is capable to provide the potential growth of business of bank.

For the solution of these tasks were the complete solution of IBM consisting of DWH of IBM Storwize (275TB) and also superfast specialized DWH of IBM FlashSystem (20 Tb) is involved.
