"Domodedovo Ah-Ti Servisiz" changes the IT platform for Microsoft SQL Server 2012

On February 24, 2014 the "Domodedovo Ah-Ti Servisiz" company announced end of the first process step of transfer of information systems to the new version of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with AlwaysOn technology.

Project Tasks

Within the project on consolidation of IT infrastructure, for ensuring disaster tolerance of all information systems of the airport the decision to use the updated Microsoft SQL Server 2012 for a number of services is made.

The complexity and specifics of work of production divisions of the airport require ensuring continuity and stability of the used IT services. Project Progress

Microsoft SQL Server 2012 with AlwaysOn technology helps the company to reduce a downtime of applications at non-staff situations. The uniform point of entry in an information system allows not to interrupt, at emergence of problems, work. At the same time restoring access to the database on a standby server is performed for very short time: within 10-60 seconds, but not 10 minutes as it was earlier.

Simplicity of management of the solution of Microsoft and as result, reduction of operating costs became important advantage also. For those systems which are already translated under management of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 labor costs were significantly reduced by administration therefore even at the planned high growth rates of volumes of the provided IT services the airport should not increase the number of IT department.

Project Results

Uniform provider of IT services for all divisions of Domodedovo Airport, the "Domodedovo Ah-Ti Servisiz" company created disaster-proof infrastructure which allowed to reduce many times a downtime of applications at non-staff situations on the basis of solutions of Microsoft and it is essential to reduce labor costs by administration.

For February 24, 2014 on Microsoft SQL Server 2012 platform operate:

• websites of the airport which service from 30 to 50 thousand connections, and at emergence of force majeur situations (non-flying weather, etc.) — in tens times more;
• production management system of factory of an onboard power supply on the 1C:Enterprise 8 platform which in working time is used by about 200 employees and at night — not less than 100 (monthly in a system about 100 thousand delivery notes are registered);
• other systems on the 1C:Enterprise 8 platform — "The management of manufacturing enterprise", "Salary and personnel management" and Electronic archive, the number of at the same time working users makes about 1000 people;
• the management system for transportations of the cargo terminal of the airport working in the round-the-clock mode and servicing about 300 active users (in a month in a system about 80 thousand delivery notes are created);
• the corporate geographic information system available to all staff of the airport (on average about 50 constantly supported sessions).
