Network Functions Virtualization (OpenNFV) is the comprehensive program of virtualization of network functions from Hewlett-Packard company.
On February 26, 2014 HP was provided by OpenNFV - the program focused on telecommunication companies as means of acceleration, simplification and reduction in cost of implementation of the innovation network services by means of virtualization of backbone telecommunication networks and network functions.
Description
The HP OpenNFV program will help to bring quicker new services to the market and to increase profit. With the advent of NFV technology provayders can use ready normal equipment and means of virtualization for testing and deployment of new services in several minutes.
The HP company announced reference architecture on the basis of the open NFV Reference Architecture standards, opened research laboratory HP OpenNFV Labs and created an ecosystem of the partners offering the applications, best in the class, and services of NFV.
The architecture of HP of OpenNFV Reference Architecture (NFV RA) by means of which all necessary ecosystem is created is the cornerstone of the HP OpenNFV program: physical servers, storage systems, networks, technologies of virtualization, controllers programmatically the defined networks (software defined networking - SDN), management tools resources and data analysis, telecommunication applications and an end-to-end system of support of operation (operations support system, OSS).
Platform, standards, structure
The architecture of HP NFV of RA is based on open standards and contains a number of the solutions and functions developed by HP which will help to create and unroll necessary architecture quickly.
HP NFV of RA includes the Virtual Services Router HP router - supports the different virtualized devices, public "clouds" with support of multiple lease (multitenancy), the virtualized subscriber devices (Customer Premise Equipment). The architecture of HP NFV of RA includes the SDN functions supplementing NFV, including technology of HP Virtual Application Networks, the SDN controller and an ecosystem of HP of Open SDN Ecosystem.
Using the put potential and functionality providers can begin conversion of outdated networks to infrastructure with support of NFV and SDN. Together the solutions SDN and NFV create a uniform ecosystem which helps providers to increase flexibility, to accelerate implementation of innovations and to maintain high competitiveness.
Support of deployment of NFV
The HP OpenNFV program contains the solutions for independent software suppliers and network equipment increasing flexibility, facilitating network management. It opens for providers access to a huge pool of resources of infrastructure, helping fast to integrate new applications and services without the need for acquisition of network equipment.
Within the HP OpenNFV program several updated solutions are planned.
- HP Virtual Home Subscriber Server allows operators to scale and manage identification of subscribers in different networks.
- HP Multimedia Services Environment integrates applications of network of operators in the general infrastructure and allows to start without effort new multimedia services for customers.
- HP Virtual Content Delivery Network Software provides physical delivery of a multimedia content to end users.
