StarWind iSCSI SAN & NAS is a hypervisor of data warehouses for creation of failsafe storage systems.


StarWind iSCSI SAN is the hardware-independent solution, easily is established on any standard server. The software solution is suitable for the enterprises of small and medium business.

Description

High availability with synchronous mirroring

  • 3-nodal cluster of high availability
  • StarWind allows to create a cluster of storage of high availability which provides absolute reliability and fault tolerance. Along with a 2-nodal configuration, StarWind allows to create a 3-nodal cluster of storage which provides higher level of protection and data availability.

The 3-nodal cluster works in the Active-Active-Active mode, executing automatic synchronization of data and effectively distributing loading between nodes. Such configuration provides 99.9999% of availability and provides working capacity even at failure at the same time of two nodes.


Automatic overcoming failure

Applying [1], StarWind provides balancing of loading and creates additional opportunities for overcoming failure. In case of failure on one node, the partner server will continue request processing without idle time.


Recovery with fast synchronization

Synchronous mirroring

StarWind provides unique FastSync technology for fast recovery of the failed node (ov) of a cluster of DWH and synchronization of data. When work of a node (ov) is resumed, a system begins synchronization and there is a copying of the changed data units. Such approach allows to reach significant savings of time.

Continuous data protection and instant pictures

These technologies allow to create consecutive pictures of data of the file system and logic devices at any moment. Instant pictures can be executed manually or automatically, on the set schedule. Afterwards it is possible to select the picture made at a given time and to use it for data recovery.


Asynchronous replication on WAN (accelerated): N+1 configuration

StarWind represents N+1 configuration which will become a reliable basis for the effective plan of disaster recovery of data. Creation of a cluster of high availability on 2 or 3 nodes in the main DPC is possible and to protect it using replication of data on the remote platform. WAN replication will help to create the backup copy of data on the server located in every spot on the globe.

The technology of acceleration of WAN from StarWind integrates in itself deduplication, instant pictures and a compression that allows to create more reliable system of disaster recovery. Parallel use of these technologies reduces the volume of the data transferred on network by 50-100 times and does possible use of slow WAN channels.

2014: StarWind SAN v8 Release Candidate

On March 6, 2014 the StarWind Software company declared an exit of release of StarWind SAN v8 Release Candidate.

The company announced more quantity of the new opportunities bringing infrastructure of virtual storages on the basis of local disks of servers to higher level.
