Eutelsat replaced means of protecting from spam

On March 20, 2014 the Fortinet company announced implementation of the FortiMail-400C device by Eutelsat SA company for protection of the employees against spam and harmful messages.

The former system of the protected message exchange used in Eutelsat had limited opportunities of filtering and is quite difficult in management. After comparison of FortiMail-400C with the IronPort system in safe transmission of messages using a number of real test cases, Eutelsat stopped the choice on the solution FortiMail from Fortinet.

According to the statement of the employee of the company supervising the direction of e-mail and a server framework before FortiMail deployment he happened to face two problems:

• it is a lot of untrue electronic reports looking as though they are sent by the staff of the company
• the previous solution could not detect harmful investments.

Using FortiMail of the company it was succeeded to get rid of spam and harmful mail. In addition, the platform of Fortinet company assisted in simplification of activity by means of options of a configuration and to automatic updates.

Project Progress

Eutelsat implemented two FortiMail-400Cs devices. The first device is placed in the company headquarters in Paris, the second - on the reserve platform, in Rambouillet.

Standby mode of deployment provided high availability in case of unforeseen failures. On average, a system filters more than 13 million electronic messages, identifies and blocks more than 36 thousand viruses annually.
