Hrvatski Telekom implements new service IPTV

On March 28, 2014 the Hrvatski Telekom company announced implementation of the Cisco Videoscape platform for deployment of the cloud video system.

New service was created on the Cisco Videoscape platform and is put into operation as a combination of the equipment of a data processing center and cloud services of Videoscape provided on the SaaS model.

This cloud service representing the first-ever system deployment of video conference under IPv6 protocol outside North America will allow subscribers to get access to content and services anywhere and from any device.

The new IPTV service from Hrvatski Telekom, Deutsche Telekom subsidiary company, uses TeraStream Deutsche Telekom network. TeraStream represents the software-defined network (SDN) simplifying implementation and integration of the modern services provided through a cloud including traditional telecommunication services, such as voice communication, IPTV and Internet access.

This IPTV service is not only an industry-first example of deployment using reference set, but also the Europe's first successful implementation of RDK. RDK is the integrated stack of the open source software, for set-top boxes.

Cloud services of Videoscape provide access to the software of Videoscape and open API interfaces of Videoscape as to service (SaaS), using the principle of payment in process of use. It allows clients of Cisco to unroll new video applications in the shortest possible time. After that clients if necessary can implement these opportunities in the company and scale them automatically, reducing time spent on planning and deployment, for months and even years.

Project Results

The Cisco company implemented an industry-first IPTV system on the basis of reference set for trial use by the telecom operator in Croatia – Hrvatski Telekom company. All project, from development of the concept before deployment, is complete in 50 days.
