Project Tasks

Emtika Ltd is the trading company, and the specifics of activity mean a large number of internal and external communications. Negotiations with clients, colleagues and suppliers, including from regions; coordination of the movement of goods on a chain supplier buyer; need to constantly solve operational problems – all this gradually led to a set of separate communications:

Data on clients and negotiations with them were conducted on different channels: ICQ, Skype, e-mail, telephony (office automatic telephone exchanges, traditional telephony, SIP providers) that complicated the choice of an optimal method of communications.

And, as a result, some contact information was lost, correspondence could not be saved. There was no possibility of full control over safety of information, at departure of employees.

Project Steps

The decision to bring order to communications in the company was made. Among possible options purchase of additional automatic telephone exchanges and also a new communication product from Microsoft company – Lync Server 2010 was considered. After independently overview of functionality and opportunities specialists of Emtika Ltd stopped the choice on Lync.

Besides, by the company the voice gateways Audiocodes necessary for integration of Lync with the existing telephony were purchased. Then it was necessary only to select the company, the system integrator capable to perform implementation.

At the initial stage of interaction the client was offered to use a special offer – implementation of Lync 2010 in a format of a startservice. The purpose of a startservice – to try Lync, to estimate all advantages and advantages of a product for only 80,000 rubles. Certainly, some Lync functions in a format of a startservice would be limited.

However in the analysis of this option it became clear to both parties that it makes sense to implement the full solution at once. As only in this case Lync will allow to perform integration with telephony, will allow to have external access to the system of the joint communications.

Within the project the following functionality was implemented:

  • instant messaging with a possibility of a multi-user conference;
  • system of the statuses and informing on presence;
  • audio-and video calls, also with a possibility of a conference;
  • planning and holding web conferences using Lync 2010;
  • close integration of Lync with functionality of the existing telephone system in 2 branches of Emtika Ltd;
  • integration into office programs, including with Exchange UM;
  • external access to a system is organized that will allow to use Lync not only at office in a workplace and also from the house, cafe and any other point where there is an Internet.

Project Effect

"The most important advantage and the expected result of implementation of Lync is consolidation of all types of communications necessary for us in one system, implementation of functionality of several programs in one. Microsoft Lync Server 2010 considerably optimized process of communications between employees and clients" – Zaytsev D.N. told, the chief it is information computing department of Emtika Ltd.

Besides the company noted:

  • increase in speed of communications;
  • economy on service and support of the systems of telephony at the expense of a total failure from automatic telephone exchange in one of branches of the company;
  • economy on phone calls between branches due to Lync use, instead of long distance calls;
  • convenience of access and use of contacts, the centralized correspondence storage – all this became possible thanks to close integration of Lync and Exchange.

Connection of other branches will become the next stage for Emtika Ltd. Use of Lync and special gateways will help to save on long distance calls at the same time considerably.
