"ODU of the East" starts new DPC

Content

On April 14, 2014 the Technoserv of AS LLC company integrator announced the beginning of production operation of a new data processing center in SO UES Branch of JSC "Interconnected dispatching office power supply systems of the East" (ODU of the East).

Project Tasks

In ODU of the East the classical scheme at which each software package was performed on a dedicated server or a small cluster from two or three servers was used. This approach complicated scaling and reservation of IT systems, their service, and computing resources were under-exploited effectively.

Project Progress

The data processing center of ODU of the East is created within implementation of an investment program of the System operator. The system integrator Technoserv of AS LLC which won an open competition acted as the contractor of works.

Project Results

The new DPC uses the technologies of virtualization optimizing use of computing resources and reducing housekeeping overheads of information infrastructure. Despite start of all software packages on one equipment, different applied tasks are performed independently of each other in the isolated environments, and possible program failures do not affect operability of other IT environment of a data processing center. Technologies of virtualization help to scale quickly tasks without essential costs, increase reliability of IT infrastructure in general.

The DPC is constructed on the Cisco Unified Computing System platform (Cisco UCS) and integrates computing and network resources of Cisco and also a storage system of EMC and the software of virtualization of VMware in a single system.

All equipment is duplicated and carried on the platforms located in different parts of ODU of the East that provides otkazo-and disaster tolerance of DPC.

Increase in computing power is reached by installation new a blade servers, the capacity of storage systems is increased by installation of additional hard drives. The new DPC considerably saves the area of production premises and has more low power consumption and heat release in comparison with traditional IT infrastructure.

From January to March, 2014 migration of 79 hardware and software systems ODES of the East using in total 118 virtual machines was carried out.

Process of migration is carried out without violations of the current work of ODU of the East.

A number of the technology complexes of the customer operating in real time are operated in a classical cluster architecture.
