2014: At Sochi Airport the VIP-terminal is equipped

On April 18, 2014 it became known of the project of the Asteros group and deployment of a complex engineering and IT systems for the VIP-terminal of Sochi International Airport.

Project Tasks

In the course of preparation for the International investment forum 2014, XXII to the Olympic Games, the Basel Aero company made the decision on expansion of the Sochi air gate and construction of the VIP-terminal of Sochi International Airport for acceptance of official delegations and high-ranking guests.

According to the project, the terminal is focused on VIP-service of passengers, both internal, and international runs, and its status dictates special requirements to security, engineering and to IT systems.

The contractor of a complex of works on creation of infrastructure of the terminal selects Asteros company.

Project Progress

Asteros started project implementation in April, 2013. Within one month specialists of Asteros created the project and unrolled necessary infrastructure, put low-current and telecommunication systems into operation:

  • SCS,
  • local networks,
  • the communication system and signallings for disabled passengers.
  • security systems are implemented,
  • the complex of power supply systems, life support of the building, automatic equipment and scheduling is implemented.

During the project all requirements of Basel Aero, including silent operation of the equipment are met.

At design of the building of the terminal the local climate and a landscape are considered. Technological and eco-friendly materials and also energy efficient panoramic glazing which allows to use as much as possible sunlight for lighting were during construction used.

"For the first time in Russia the "green" airport using solar energy is constructed — Tatyana Lemesheva, the sales director of department of transport and aircraft of the Asteros group told. — On a roof of the terminal the solar batteries connected to the hot water supply which will allow the airport to provide 85% of hot water in the summer and 25% — in the winter are located, and the building of the terminal is designed by the most open for natural lighting. All this will allow not only to save electricity consumption, but also to reduce dependence on the electric networks of the South of Russia".

Project Results

The VIP-terminal of Sochi Airport is successfully put into operation in the stated terms.

For acceptance of authorities and delegations (ZOLD) in the VIP-terminal all complex of land service from registration before landing is provided. In the building five rooms for business actions and legal meetings, a recreation area are equipped. The VIP-terminal accepted the first passengers on September 29, 2013.

Asteros automated the main airport Olympic Games-2014 on credit

Asteros implemented 37 IT systems in the new terminal of Sochi International Airport for 12 million dollars, having completely credited the customer on all project cost. It is planned that the management company of the airport will be calculated with integrator as soon as obtains the credit in bank.

The Asteros company completed "turnkey" creation of IT infrastructure of new air terminal of Sochi International Airport which is controlled Basel Aero company.

Within preparation for the Sochi Olympic Games-2014 upgrade of the airport according to requirements of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was required. For optimization of a passenger traffic of the airport which in 2009 made 1.5 million people, was put into operation the new passenger terminal. On the international standards it should accept 3.8 thousand people per hour, as should provide modern IT systems.

As Sergey Likharev, the CEO of Basel Aero company [[Likharev Sergey|]] noted, "Reconstruction of the Sochi airport and creation of a world-class aero complex became for us one of the largest and status investment projects. At construction of the new terminal we paid special attention to creation of the technological IT base for support of the increasing loading and high rates of development of the airport".

The project of technology equipment of the new terminal started in September, 2008. At the same time Asteros for financing of IT equipment of the new terminal credited Sochi Airport more than for 12 million dollars. As investments were required during crisis, Asteros paid tribute to importance of an object "for the Olympic Games and the country" and therefore on start of the project "supported the customer in financing",Andrey Cheremnykh, the director of the department of work with the aviation and transport sector of Asteros company [[Cheremnykh Andrey|]] explained.

As specified TAdviser in Asterosa, the Sochi Airport will return to integrator this amount in process of receiving the credit allocated by VEB on construction of air terminal complex. The agreement on opening of a credit line for the airport is already signed with VEB, its amount will be 5.4 billion rubles for a period of 10 years. At the same time in Asteros found it difficult to comment whether the amount of 12 million dollars is the total cost of the project or only its part and also did not open further plans for automation of the new terminal. Representatives of Basel Aero did not respond to the request of TAdviser.

It is not the first precedent when Asteros applies non-standard schemes to financing of projects: for example, in May the Sheremetyevo Airport bought at Asteros by installments completely working IT infrastructure for the new terminal of class E. Pay for "iron" and the software the airport will be within five years.

As for details of the Sochi project, all Asteros implemented in a new complex of 37 basic and specialized aviation systems which ensure continuous functioning of the airport. At the first stage of the project the basic IT infrastructure including a structured cabling system and a local computer network on 2500 users, the unified system telephone and conference communication, a complex of security systems Bosh and also a data processing center was constructed. Also basic IT services were started: e-mail, antivirus protection, Internet access, archiving, data recovery and others.

On the next stage specialists of Asteros carried out a full range of works on a "aviation" part: created video surveillance systems, notifications and fire extinguishing, installed and configured the corresponding specialized equipment. All these systems were integrated into a uniform IT complex that provided centralized operation with information resources of the airport.

When implementing the project opportunities for scaling of the implemented IT systems are provided. After start of the first stage of the new terminal in May, 2010 capacity of the airport increased from 900 to 1600 people per hour. In 2012 the airport is going to service up to 2500 passengers per hour, and during the Olympic Games this indicator should come to planned - up to 3800 passengers per hour.
