Rosevrobank implements the disaster-proof solution of data center

CROC cooperates with Symantec eight years. Throughout this time about 400 projects were jointly implemented, including the system optimizing performance of databases in Rosfinmonitoring and Ingosstrakh is constructed, the system of privileged information loss prevention in "Nova of the transportation company" and RUSNANO is implemented. Not so long ago CROC created reserve computer center in JSB Rosevrobank (JSC). Within this project the solution Symantec Veritas Cluster which provides high availability of the computer system, and the solution Symantec NetBackup used for backup was applied. In the company within its infrastructure products of Symantec are also used. For example, as antivirus protection at CROC the solution Symantec Endpoint Protection is deployed, and Symantec Enterprise Vault is applied to archiving of e-mail.

The project is complete in April, 2013.

Project Development

On April 24, 2014 Rosevrobank jointly with specialists of CROC was developed and implemented the distributed disaster-proof infrastructure on the basis of the main and reserve data processing centers.

In total Rosevrobank provided high availability of 40 key business systems. In case of force majeur circumstances including technogenic accidents, the operability of critical information systems and services can be recovered within one hour.

"To provide a continuous circuit of business, it was required to rebuild and optimize a considerable part of the existing infrastructure. As a result we received the tool which allows not only to secure the automated banking systems, resource management systems, the systems of financial management against long idle times, but also to improve their controllability, scalability and efficiency" — Roman Smirnov, the associate director of department of IT of Rosevrobank noted.

The solution CROC is based on two territorially spaced data processing centers (both are located in Moscow at distance of 20 km from each other). About 10 software and hardware solutions of different producers are implemented: Hitachi Data Systems Brocade Oracle Symantec Cisco MRV VMware , etc.

"Within the project the joint team of specialists of Rosevrobank and CROC upgraded networks and storage systems, a server complex, organized independent trunk communication channels between existing and reserve data processing centers, optimized the database management system, implemented a backup system and also a set of software solutions, business applications, automating process of ensuring continuous availability key for bank" — Dmitry Yakovlev, the director of work with corporate customers of CROC company told.

"Whatever reliable equipment was used in data center, the bank needs to be always ready to any contingencies influencing operation of computing systems. For this purpose the project team developed the plan of disaster recovery for a case of occurrence of extreme situations, the DPC leading to violations of functioning up to its complete stop. As a result of DRP (disaster recovery plan is the plan of disaster recovery) became for IT personnel a peculiar road map on timely identification, reaction and elimination of the effects caused by extraordinary or emergency situations. In it, for example, movements of employees are considered and their specific roles at system recovery to within the specific commands executed by administrators are distributed. The similar DRP plan allows divisions of IT to fulfill the requirements of business for the set parameters of continuity and to reduce idle time of business applications in case of accident" — Ruslan Zayedinov, the deputy CEO, the head of DPC and cloud computing of CROC company reported.
