BrainBasket fund

In April, 2014 it was announced creation in Ukraine of Brain Basket fund which sets as the purpose to make the IT industry a driving force for creation of strong national economy. The fund was created at the initiative of a number of the large IT companies with assistance of the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine Pavel Sheremeta.

The main task of Brain Basket is preparation of 100 thousand new IT specialists till 2020 who will be able to provide more than $10 billion export receipts a year and also to work on strategic projects within the country, such as electronic government, is noted on the website of fund.

His creators calculate that permanent focus on development of the IT industry will allow it to become in 10 years the largest exporter in Ukraine and to make Ukraine "the country of IT specialists".

Tasks of Brain Basket fund are designated in such directions as development of curricula together with the state and commercial educational institutions, promotion training online from the leading world universities, creation of the intercorporate training centers based on the partner companies, involvement of trainers and teachers, including foreign and also support of the best students and their subsequent employment in the leading IT companies of Ukraine.

"This initiative is a fine opportunity to develop the IT industry of Ukraine. The experience got during operation on projects of the foreign companies will strengthen domestic market, providing, thus, qualified specialists who in the future will be able to create own projects and the companies", – Torben Madzhgard, the CEO and the founder of the Ukrainian company Ciklum said.

On the website of fund it is said that sowing investments in the amount of $100 thousand will come to it on behalf of Ciklum. Equivalent contributions are offered to be made also to other largest players in the outsourcing industry. The fund, at the same time, will collect resources from the national and international organizations, government agencies and NGO.

Everyone can join an initiative of fund: volunteers, investors, the universities, the companies which as the help can provide, for example, to fund training rooms, provide with training materials and the equipment.

At the time of creation of Brain Basket among the partners supporting him among the international companies Microsoft and Cisco are registered. The Russian IT companies working at global market are not presented in the list.

Luxoft (under this brand IBS works at Ukraine) told TAdviser that their company did not carry out the serious assessment of need to join Brain Basket, however it is informed on work which is conducted by fund. Added to the companies that will continue to monitor progress and growth of this organization and if it is approved with the strategy of Luxoft, then will be glad to participate in it.
