Baltika, brewery (Microsoft SQL Server 2014)

Sergey Robozerov, the Head of Department on work with regional IT departments of Baltika company, told^[1] about practice of adaptation of the CRM system of Info Monolith company to expansion of activity of Baltika in Europe. Now this system works in mode 24x7, services 5600 mobile users and about one thousand stationary clients. Last year Baltika was puzzled with method of connection of the western services of sales to the CRM system, and at once there was a question how to optimize loading which was so high, and had to increase by one and a half-two times? The simplest method — purchase of the additional hardware, but it is expensive and not the fact that it with guarantee will give the necessary gain of performance. Remake a program code of a system long and it is labor-consuming. And there was just a version of SQL Server 2014 CTP with horizontal scaling and OLTP in OZU which well approached under this task. As a result Baltika refused most 'heavy' services of replication, having passed to fast OLTP processing, and having involved also a possibility of operation of the local server with the local copy of base. As a result on the available equipment — HPs servers of the middle class, it was possible for short term (from fall of 2013 to April, 2014) to successfully start a system under new loading in the mode of real operation.
