The Denga company increases management efficiency using QlikView

About the Customer

Denga – one of five largest microfinancial companies of Russia specializing in issue of loans and credits to physical persons and legal entities and services in car insurance. The company locates an extensive network from 100 departments in 30 regions of the Russian Federation. The head office of the company is located in St. Petersburg.

Prerequisites of the Project

The specifics of financial business assume the high need for analytical data: the analytics is necessary to both financiers, and company management, and, often data are required in absolutely new cuts. With respect thereto specialists of Denga company constantly had to unload data in Microsoft Excel and "krutit" them there that at large volumes of information is quite problematic. Besides, it was necessary to analyze data on clients in different foreshortenings, however analytical opportunities of the CRM system were strongly limited. It caused need of implementation of a new BI system.

Specialists of Denga company among the most vital issues which it was necessary to face in work and which the new system of the business analysis needed to solve select lack of a possibility of formation of analytics taking into account the comprehensive analysis of the customer base, long terms of development of new reports and their high cost and also insufficient efficiency. All this resulted in lack of transparency in the algorithms used by employees for preparation of the reporting and carrying out the analysis. Taking into account that at the company the need for instant analytics with often changing requests is big and there is a need for reporting upon the demand of investors, the situation should be changed, and the decision on implementation of a BI system was made.

Project Tasks

Creation of the tool for report generation taking into account the comprehensive analysis of the customer base, increase in extent of detailing of analytical data, receiving instant analytics taking into account fast changing requests became a problem of creation of a BI system on the QlikView platform in Denga company. Besides, implementing the business discovery platform, the company expected increase in efficiency and visualization of providing analytical information, minimization of cost of development of new reports, achievement of transparency in the algorithms used by employees for preparation of the reporting and carrying out the analysis.

Choosing a Solution

In an analysis result of the current situation and requirements requirements to the new system of the business analysis were created. First of all, it had to be the tool with a high speed of development and a scaling option without loss of data processing rate. At the same time the solution had to provide to end users a possibility of independent formation of analytical representations according to their needs. Besides, a system had to allow to combine managerial and financial data. The QlikView Business Discovery platform became the solution which satisfied all requests of Denga company.

The partner in implementation selected consulting company BI Consult whose specialists have extensive experience in setting and the organization of analytics and management accounting in the large companies and, including, have work experience in the financial sector. Within a pilot project experts of BI Consult were connected to the database of Denga company and showed how using the QlikView platform it is possible to create the necessary information representations quickly.

Project Progress

The project took five months. Two months in the summer of 2013 left on formation of the management reporting, two months in the fall of the same year – on correction of the principles of work of accounting for reporting. In February, 2014 in one month the application for the analysis of the customer base was created.

Thus, the solution at the moment allows to create reports on a financial position, total returns, cash desk, cash flow and their use, administrative and business expenses and also on compensation for expenses of back-office. Besides, using QlikView the staff of Denga company can carry out the analysis of the customer base, loans, insurance policies, advertizing activity, partners and borrowers.

Data sources for the BI system of steel 1C of management of manufacturing plants, 1C ZUP, the CRM system and the tables Microsoft Excel in which historical data on business of the company are stored. Now specialists at the central office of the company use the solution.

Implementation of QlikView allowed the company of Denga to benefit from that information which was collected in IT systems and earlier was not used or used is very limited. Data on activity of the company for 4 years were loaded into a BI system, on their basis it is possible to carry out any minute the analysis on those indicators which are interesting and important.

For example, it is possible to learn who takes the credits more – men or women at what age worst of all give the credits in 20-30 years or in 30-40 years or what people of professions most often take the secondary credits. Thus, use of QlikView opened before the company the new horizons for business development on the basis of the data which are saved up in the company and experience.

Project Results

Use of QlikView allowed to revaluate a number of business processes of the company. So, according to analysis results rules of formation of the credits and marketing efforts were corrected, the hidden and implicit dependences as a result of a research of the customer base opened, more than 100 cases of errors when reporting are revealed.

Using QlikView in Denga company could increase efficiency of the user work with data, minimize quantity of the errors arising because of a human factor. Besides, time of reporting was reduced from weeks to seconds, on formation of a new type of analytics 90% less time leaves, and reporting term on the opening divisions is reduced by 95%. In general new opportunities of analytics allowed to increase decision making speed by 60-70%.

Development of a system

The project is considered successful therefore in the company it is decided not to be satisfied with what has already been achieved. Tools for company management will be in the short term created, also attention will be paid to deepening of analytics in other directions of the analysis and formation of audit and reconciliations of data both in one system, and between systems.
