MGTS implemented the IMS platform and accelerates start of new services

Customers: Moscow City Telephone Network (MCTN)

Project date: 2014/04

JSC Moscow City Telephone Network announced in the spring of 2014 implementation on the network of the multimedia IMS platform (IP Multimedia Subsystem) that it will allow the company not only to expand a range of the provided services, but also to accelerate their implementation.

The IMS platform gives the chance of MGTS to provide convergent services based on data transmission, voices and multimedia through uniform IP infrastructure, providing access to content through MGTS GPON networks. At the same time new complex network infrastructure guarantees a data exchange rate throughout a session that increases quality of providing multiplay-packets.

In 2014 MGTS, thanks to implementation of the IMS platform and further development of network infrastructure, will be able to offer the subscribers the innovation services of telephony, such as transfer of number with its preserving in Moscow, service of the virtual PBX and also the new interactive platform of digital television, services of the smart home, video surveillance and others.

The core of IMS network consists of four geographically distributed switches, each of which can support work of an equivalent of 10 million subscriber lines that provides reservation on performance of processing and allows to implement quickly and on a centralized basis new services on MGTS network. Today the IMS switches over 2.5 million subscriber ports ensure functioning, from them more than 800 thousand work on GPON technology.

"The greatest development will be gained in the near future by networks with multimedia convergence. Application of MGTS of IMS technology gives us strategic advantage at creation of networks of new generation based on GPON and will allow to react quickly to changes of customer needs and to reduce time for implementation of multiservices. According to the results of the first quarter 2014, over 45 percent of clients of MGTS used two and more services based on GPON technology, and by the end of the year according to our forecasts their number will exceed 50 percent. Therefore we aim to construct our infrastructure so that MGTS had an opportunity to advance needs of the client and to create the best user experience of interaction of the subscriber with telecom operator" — the marketing director and to development of products of MGTS Kulakovsky Dmitry noted.

MGTS of one of the first in Russia in 2010 began to apply the IMS elements - platforms in connection with transition to technology of packet switching of data and failure from use of analog telephone exchanges within reconstruction of network and also the beginning of implementation in Moscow of GPON technology.
