"Orkla Brends Russia" uses the unified platform of communications

On January 16, 2014 it became known of implementation in Orkla Brends Russia company of the platform of communications of Microsoft Lync Server 2010.

Project Tasks

By 2012 at factory "With pleasure" for communications there was Live Communications Server, the staff of other divisions used analog and mobile phones, e-mail. The efficiency of communications was estimated as not high for the reasons of impersonality of telephone communication and impossibility of coordination of time of a call. Concerning conference communication - the teleconference systems with the big screens not convenient for daily use as on each call it is impossible acted on production sites and it is not reasonable to organize a separate large conference. There was a need in use of multifunction and reliable corporate solution.

In addition, each of the companies used own domains and they were required to be integrated in one domain.

The customer imposed solution specifications:

• providing employees with uniform, convenient, mobile, functional communication;
• availability in all territory of Russia;
• integration into other software which is available for the customer;
• opportunity for work with applications; convenience of commission of calls to city networks;
• uniform means for authentication of all users of the company.

Yaroslav Shadyrya, the Head of Department of IT of Orkla Brends Russia company, noted: "We needed means which would support not only voice communications and chats, but also both video conferences, and joint work with applications: reports, presentations, etc. The main requirement consisted in that a system allowed to organize instant conferences, including joint work with documents - when it is necessary for management of the company".

The customer considered different versions of solutions and comparison of the products Lync and the corporate version of Skype then at the level of directors of Orkla Brends Russia consolidated company approved implementation of communications system of Lync was carried out.

Project Progress

Implementing solution is carried out in two steps:

• in 2012 set Microsoft Lync Server 2010 and passed to the uniform domain;
• in the fall of 2013, in connection with a release of the new version, updating to Microsoft Lync Server 2013 is carried out.

Dmitry Makarov, the technical director of the company of Loudspeaker, emphasized: "The complexity of the similar project is that for its implementation insufficiently just the nobility of Lync - needs to be imagined how in general the IP telephony is arranged. Moreover, practically each project is an integration with something already available into the organizations... In Orkl Brends we solved two main objectives: ensuring soft junction of infrastructure of all company on Lync and simultaneous transition of the integrated companies to the uniform domain. Besides, integration of old software of Microsoft with new was made. Most of users of the customer had no problems both at implementation, and in the course of testing of a product".

Project Results

Departments of Orkla Brends Russia company use for communication of Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Most fully functions of a product are implemented for top management. In the company the centralized control system including department of IT, uniform for all production association, functions. All communications in the company are performed generally using Lync, phones are used only when finding employees out of office.
