The east Siberian bank of Sberbank of Russia completes the project of creation of the distributed virtual environment

On May 27, 2014 the I-Teco company announced project completion of creation of the failsafe distributed virtual environment for the East Siberian bank of Sberbank of Russia using technologies of Netapp and VMware.

Project Tasks

Growth of requirements to performance, availability and fault tolerance of functioning of IT services became the basis for the management of bank, in 2013, for problem definition of upgrade of storage system of virtual servers.

Based on contrastive analysis of proposed solutions by the most suitable recognized the complex prepared by I-Teco company.

"Virtualization of disk space increased efficiency of use of the existing storage systems (SS), having improved utilization of disk arrays. I want to emphasize that due to deduplication the minimum economy of disk space made 46%, or 3.24 TB, – Igor Leskov, the associate director of control of technical means and telecommunications of the East Siberian bank of Sberbank of Russia noted. – In addition, a number of additional functionality, including instant backup and data recovery on all virtualized space was implemented".

Project Progress

Within the project experts of I-Teco are used technologies and products of Netapp:

• Netapp Fabric MetroCluster technology for maintenance of high system availability and synchronization of information on disks and in a cache memory of controllers at distance up to 160 km. It allowed servers to switch quickly to use of data from any platform of data center without stopping of work of banking applications.
• the solution Netapp V-Series for virtualization of disk space of the operating DWH of bank and implementation of deduplication of data, accelerations of reading/record and control of integrity of information.
• software products NetApp Virtual Storage Console with integration of new opportunities of the solution in the upgraded environment VMware vSphere and NetApp SnapManager, the providing functionality of backup and recovery.
• the Netapp Flash Cache technology which provided increase in productivity of DWH both for virtual servers, and for productive databases.

According to results ^[1], the deployed solution considerably raised data storage system availability, reduced response time of applications and reduced costs for upgrade, having included the capacity of already existing disk arrays.
