Situation

MS Lync 2010 is used in Sumitek since 2011. Initially it was independently implemented, limited version intended only for internal communications. However further business development required to arrange even more interaction between divisions and individual employees. In view of close interaction of Sumitek International LLC employees often needed to contact Sumitomo Corporation company whose daughter, and, respectively, the successor of policy and business processes, Sumitek and also owing to expansion of the enterprise and increase in number of clients is, in off-duty hours from personal computers. The company with the Link, and then, in process of understanding of chance which Lync gives was attracted to the solution of these tasks, in Sumitek the decision on complete transition to Lync of all branches of the company was made.

Cooperation of specialists of the company by Link with Sumitek company continues since 2012, during this time to Sumitek there is a multi-stage, large-scale and total failure from traditional automatic telephone exchange and transition of all company to Lync. Solution

According to development plans for IT infrastructure and Lync in particular, Sumitek LLC, efforts of specialists by Link passed some more steps on the way to complete transition to Lync.

1 stage. Setup of additional functionality to already available Lync 2010, namely: setup of external access (access from the Internet, remote work, webinars, the mobile client) to Microsoft Lync Server 2010, installation of roles Lync Archiving and Lync Monitoring.

2 stage. Due to consolidation of 2 offices in 1 big, in branch of Sumitek company in St. Petersburg the decision to transfer all telephony completely to Lync, transporting and setting old automatic telephone exchanges was made. The following was for this purpose made:

  • using the gateway Sonus certified under Lync connection of Lync to the telephone lines (E1 digital stream) provided by provider was performed.

  • the complete functionality of automatic telephone exchange – the voice menu, call acceptance, routing, call acceptance by operators, etc. was implemented.

  • Exchange Unified Messaging is deployed the service. Together with Lync they provided all traditional functionality of telephony to which voice access to the Exchange mailbox, the voice menu, functions of the auto attendant in 2 languages – Russian and Japanese was in addition added.

What is important: According to the results of this stage of works, at the St. Petersburg office "Sumitek" noted convenience of using of Lync and long-awaited unification of methods of communication.

As noticed at the central office, from the moment of implementation of Lync in remote divisions, considerable cutting of costs for communication was outlined. Calculations are conducted.

3 stage. The third stage, absolutely the same way, made a transfer of Sumitek International LLC branch in Krasnoyarsk, numbering 50 people, from traditional telephony on Lync 2010.

4 stage. Unlike other branches where Lync was not used as an alternative telephony, and there was a normal automatic telephone exchange, at the Moscow office, on the contrary, an opportunity to call to the city was already configured, however for this purpose there were only 4 lines on an exit. By the way, this, some kind of, pilot project was also implemented by our specialists in 2012. At this stage the total failure from traditional automatic telephone exchange was planned and successfully performed, namely, all lines, 21 pieces, were transferred to Lync 2010.

Results and plans

Absolutely in all branches of Sumitek International LLC with whom to us, specialists of Linkom LLC, has already the luck to work, are very happy with a product and its opportunities, new to the employees. In plans of Sumitek LLC and Linkom LLC for the future which gradually already becomes the present, switching of all offices from old analog automatic telephone exchanges on Lync, migration on upgraded version of Lync 2013 and also more active use of mobile devices, at the expense of the full-function mobile client.
