On June 9, 2014 the Columbus company announced implementation in network of multibrand shoe shops Obuv.com of the warehouse management system Columbus WMS on the Microsoft Dynamics AX platform.
Project Tasks
The implementation project relied on desire of the management of the retail company - to change qualitatively the organization of warehouse economy.
"We are interested to reduce as much as possible costs in all spheres of our activity to make goods more available at cost for a wide range of buyers. We accurately plan the costs, but also we care for that quality of accounting, the speed of selection of goods and other indicators of the KPI company did not suffer, - Dmitry Gladky, the logistical manager of Obuv Côme LLC told. - Poor performed work on any section of a logistics chain inevitably conducts to additional expenses. The new warehouse management system is designed to provide optimal balance between quality and costs".
Project Progress
The project was begun at the end of May, 2013. In August, 2013 the retailer actively used possibilities of Columbus WMS.
Project Results
The implementing solution Columbus WMS the retail network Obuv.com automated processes of a warehouse complex:
- quantitative and high-quality acceptance,
- complete set,
- intra warehouse movements,
- control of orders,
- shipment of goods to consignees,
- inventory,
- processing of defects and write-off,
- assembly/dismantling of specifications.
"Broad range of opportunities for management of a warehouse is provided in Columbus WMS. All transactions are automated with the minimum completions and settings under operating conditions of our warehouse complex, - Dmitry Yulin, the head of department of the software of Obuv Côme LLC noted. – Application of a new warehouse management system in total with data collection terminals allowed us to increase quality of assembly of orders and to have up-to-date data on a status of trade inventories and work of personnel in real time".
"Using possibilities of Columbus WMS to a basis of Microsoft Dynamics AX, our company managed to move to essentially other level of the organization of warehouse economy. Through joint efforts we managed to build almost again processes in a warehouse, to teach personnel of the distribution center correctly to use tools and resources available to them, to reveal the hidden risks, - Sergey Levitte, the deputy CEO of Obuv Côme LLC company told. – In terms of functional equipment the created system meets our expectations. WMS from Columbus helps us to reduce runtime of the main warehouse transactions and to control each action of employees".
With Columbus WMS implementation the quantity of claims on quality of selection of goods, from shops, was reduced by 8%, the quantity of lines in selection was reduced by 28%. The number of units shipped in orders for movement increased by 11% that indirectly demonstrates optimization of storage locations of goods and improvement of routes of a selection and gives the chance to complete more goods on a smaller assembly section. Also the number of orders for shipment increased by 44%, the average quantity of commodity units in shipment increased by 112%.
