Content

On June 6, 2014 the Microsoft company announced the project in BMW Group company - the platform of data management Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Enterprise with AlwaysOn Availability Groups technology is implemented.

Project Tasks

BMW Group daily uses hundreds of the business applications necessary for work for all employees, beginning from accounting and finishing with technical support teams. The volume of databases of the company annually increases by 20–30%, access to internal DB was required for increasing number of employees.

Support of the previous system of so high level of availability required big costs, besides, BMW Group was required ensuring the highest scalability of a system.

In 2013 the management of BWM Group made the decision on implementation of the platform of data management of SQL Server of 2014 Enterprise together with AlwaysOn Availability Groups technology - it provides high availability and recovery of several SQL Server nodes without the need for creation of the general SAN.

Groups of availability SQL Server 2014 AlwaysOn support up to eight secondary remarks that allows BMW Group to cope with growth of volume of databases without effort. The new solution includes functions of automatic recovery - now even in case of large machine failure data will be instantly moved from one node of a cluster SQL Server AlwaysOn on another.

Project Progress

At the end of 2013 BMW Group began integration of SQL Server of 2014 Enterprise AlwaysOn Availability Groups into the IT infrastructure then could refuse the former expensive platform.

Project Results

SQL Server of 2014 Enterprise automatically executes standard operations on service of databases, and Groups of availability SQL Server 2014 Enterprise AlwaysOn help IT administrators to reveal quickly problems and to find ways of their solution.
