On June 23, 2014 the Oberon company announced project completion on upgrade of a storage system of the Russian Automobile Partnership (RAP).

Project Tasks

Development of several independent business directions pushed RAT company to need of upgrade of IT infrastructure. The key tasks standing in the course of upgrade consist in logical and physical separation of IT infrastructure, the providing functioning of the services focused on the selected business directions. Not less important task requiring the solution during the project – ensuring working capacity at the moments of peak loads and fault tolerance of a complex of data storage.

Project Progress

Detailed requirements analysis of the organization and careful formation of technical specifications helped to create the architecture model conforming to all technical performances and requirements of RAT.

Within the project:

  • engineering design of a storage system on the basis of Best Practices technique from NetApp and VMware is executed that provided its stability, high reliability and scalability;
  • implemented new storage systems;
  • provided integration with the existing computing and network resources;
  • prepared systems for transfer of historical data;
  • to short terms carried out installation and switching of the equipment, made remote setup and testing.

Project Results

In a project deliverable the Russian Automobile Partnership received the upgraded DWH owing to what performance is increased and the disk space is expanded. Necessary failsafe infrastructure for data storage is created. DWH is configured so that in it there is no point of failure, i.e. at failure of some component of a system of the business application continue to work.

"To the customer it was important that a new system earned as soon as possible. At the same time the quality of works, naturally, should not have suffered. Therefore we applied approach of remote setup, carrying out the most part of works from our office. It allowed to save significantly time for visits and departures to the customer. As result — we not only met in time, but even managed to hand over the ready project some days before a deadline" – Sergey Shirokov, the director of the department of Oberon computing systems told.
"And on a preparatory stage, and during project implementation specialists of Oberon showed necessary competence and proved from the best side. From the very beginning we managed to establish constructive cooperation, having spoken and having stated all essential parts of the project in documentation. In many respects it, along with the clearness and professionalism of Oberon, also became the key to success of all project", – Igor Revyakin, the head of department of infrastructure management of Department of information technologies of RAT noted.
