On July 23, 2014 it became known of the project of upgrade of corporate network of Surgutneftegas company. Partners in the project: Inline Group companies and HP.
Project Tasks
The most important component of information infrastructure of Surgutneftegas company is the corporate data network which covers more than 300 objects in Western and Eastern Siberia, Moscow, St. Petersburg and some other regions of our country. Specialists of the company perform the round-the-clock monitoring of its working capacity and also solutions for performance improvement, reliability and controllability are developed and implemented.
Within these actions heads made the decision on upgrade of the corporate network located in the city of Surgut. This transport network performs interaction of data processing centers of the enterprise and also covers objects industrial zones. It is used for transfer of voice traffic, providing with telephone communication divisions and objects of the company.
The operating transport network is created more than ten years ago and ceased to conform to requirements of Surgutneftegas company. There was a need - to increase capacity of communication channels, to provide scalability of infrastructure to guarantee support of increase in productivity of information systems, implementations of modern technological solutions and IT services, deployments of new applications.
Based on the held competition, specialists of Surgutneftegas company selected the solution developed by network department of HP and Inline Group system integrator.
Project Progress
Project implementation provided the high-performance scalable network infrastructure supplied with an effective management system and administrations capable to ensure smooth operation of crucial applications and deployment of new IT services of the industrial company.
Business project deliverables became: improvement of controllability of development of the oil and gas extraction company, increase in efficiency of acceptance of management decisions, decrease in operating expenses and total cost of ownership of network infrastructure, reduction of risk of idle time.
The upgraded transport multiservice convergent IP network, is capable to perform data transmission, voices and video. It replaced the existing infrastructure and provided information exchange between two platforms of DPC of Surgutneftegas company, covered 25 structural divisions located in the territory of all industrial zone. At its design the available fiber optic communication lines creating a ring topology which integrated DPC and groups of structural divisions and for providing the high level of readiness of communications were saved redundant communication channels were used. Unlike earlier existing network new infrastructure has potential of prioritization of the transferred traffic on the basis of requirements of the IEEE 802.1 1p/Q standard and also capability of formation of virtual local area networks for voice traffic.
"Network solutions are a part of the strategy of HP focused on creation of IT infrastructure of the modern enterprises according to the concept of HP of Converged Infrastructure Architecture. Approach of HP to creation of products for networks of the enterprises is based on reference architecture of HP of Flex Fabric which components are the having switches of the access level and the aggregation developed by functionality, high-performance switches and routers of a core of network, an end-to-end system of network management. Application of products and technologies of department HP Networking gives an opportunity to implement the network solutions, effective based on the ratio of functionality and cost, intended for creation of corporate data networks of the different enterprises – from the small companies of a segment of SMB to the large, geographically distributed corporations", – Alexander Stolyarov, the Head of Department of network solutions of HP company noted.
The technology of failsafe stacking Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF) which use increases reliability of network solutions belongs to features of network equipment of HP used in the updated network of Surgutneftegas company, significantly reduces infrastructure recovery time at emergence of emergency situations, provides performance improvement and efficiency of use of network resources. IRF gives an opportunity to integrate up to nine switches in a stack, using for this purpose 10-gigabit ports of line cards. In spite of the fact that components of a stack can be deleted considerably from each other, it is the uniform logic device, control of which is exercised to one IP address. IRF supports the Link Aggregation Control Protocol protocol, giving an opportunity of transfer of traffic between switches on several channels. Recovery of topology at failure of the switch or channel in a stack happens in time, not exceeding 50 ms.
"HP and Inline Group – our checked partners. The project was quite difficult, however harmonious work of the command executing it allowed to pass through all difficulties. Commissioning of new network was performed without interruptions in providing IT services", – Alexander Dudko, the lead engineer of department of implementation of computer aids, automated control systems and telecommunications of technical control of Surgutneftegas company noted.
The upgraded 10-gigabit network created on the basis of Metro Ethernet technologies has hierarchical architecture. In its trunk segment constructed based on topology of a dual ring the high-performance switches of the HP 10500 series providing transfer of traffic with high-speed performance of 10 Gbps in each direction are used. In all central nodes of network and also pairs of such switches, united in stacks, are installed in the central computer system. Aggregation level which is also executed on the basis of a ring topology performs connection of information systems of structural divisions, implementation of services of segmentation of traffic and ensuring quality of service.
The HP 5800AF-48G switches installed in aggregation rings are united in an IRF stack. The technology of stacking of IRF is used also in network infrastructure of data processing centers where at the level of aggregation of each DPC the HP 12518 switches are installed. Between pair of these remote switches the virtual channel consisting of two aggregated physical channels 40 Gb Ethernet is created. In a core of DPC network the HP 10508 switches which interaction is also organized on IRF technology are used.
The HP 5900AF-48XG switches, in pairs united in stacks, with very low level of a delay and also stacks of the HP 5830AF-96G switches are used to connection of servers in data processing centers.
On all active equipment of network separation of traffic into classes with necessary service quality is performed that gives an opportunity, along with data transmission, to organize uninterrupted telephone communication, having saved the transfers of voice traffic which are available in the company the equipment.
"The long-term operating experience and development of network by specialists of Surgutneftegas became guarantee of successful project implementation. It was once again interesting to us to work with the command focused on result ready to acceptance of the fast and weighed solutions, which is responsible for the undertaken obligations not only to the management, but also to us as the contractor", – Andrey Altergot, the deputy CEO – the director of the department of work with the energy industry enterprises of Inline Group company noted.
