TGC-1 increased data availability level in the data centers

On July 28, 2014 EMC announced implementation of the failsafe systems of the EMC VPLEX series in two geographically distributed data processing centers, in the data-centers of JSC TGC-1 in St. Petersburg.

Project Results

System implementation of VPLEX helped to solve two main objectives:

• create the solution on data storage in network of geographically distributed DPCs of JSC TGC-1 with continuous availability and mobility. Actually it allowed to integrate two platforms which are at distance in 70 km from each other in one. Infrastructure of storage of type "active-active" is reached due to creation of the virtual environment of data storage integrating in itself all physical resources of data centers. It allowed users to get access to simultaneous record/reading one copy of data in absolutely different geographical points,

• remove separation of technologies, having ensured stable functioning of storage systems of different producers and generations in unified virtual environment. Thereby economy on investments into the new equipment without loss of reliability, considerably the augmented list of the equipment possible to future reference is reached.

Taking into account transfer in data centers of the company of all its computing powers, from the dispatching systems before virtualization of desktops, the main requirement imposed to the new systems - capability to provide continuous data availability, their mobility in two geographically distributed DPCs, at the same time providing transparent automatic distribution of workload between platforms.
