2014: Norton Antivirus becomes an online service

On August 20, 2014 it became known of plans of Symantec company to stop development of the Norton Antivirus project and to turn nine applications integrated by a trade name of Norton in a uniform online service.

Symantec consolidates separate applications of the Norton family — Norton Internet Security Norton AntiVirus, Norton360 and others, in a uniform online service which can use on desktops, as well as on mobile devices.

Norton Security will offer functions of an antivirus, destruction of spywares and spam filtering. At additional expense - from $10 for 25 Gbytes, backup will be available. Old versions of the products Norton will save working capacity. The period of their support and updating it is not announced.

For August 20, 2014 the service which received the name Norton Security - in a beta testing stage. In North America it will be put into operation on September 23, 2014. Subscription cost for a year - $79.

It is supposed that Norton Security some time will be on sale in shops, however, the website will become the main point of sales of products of Symantec.
