On September 17, 2014 the Russian company Esri CIS announced an exit to international market of the new Esri ArcGIS Open Data software product intended for creation open for GIS portals.
For the first time by software of ArcGIS Open Data it was shown to specialists GIS at the International conference of users which took place in July of this year. Using ArcGIS Open Data it is possible to organize very quickly the portal of open data as on the basis of own information, and this, available on the Internet on numerous geoinformation resources. At the same time developers emphasize that ArcGIS Open Data represents a product, really completely ready to start, on the ArcGIS platform, respectively, no additional development for its application will be required.
Let's especially note that the enterprises and the organizations can configure the portal with own design and a set of functional parts. It is important that such portal can be available both to all users, and to separate groups, and on separate thematic data sets. Also the portal can be used for search and data loading in different formats, viewing information on the interactive map, in the table, etc.
Geoportal approach to providing open data has a number of essential advantages, in comparison with a format of directories, traditional for such systems, and tables. So, the geoportal gives the chance to estimate arrangement of objects, facilitates their search, opens new opportunities for the visual analysis and also helps to use these data for further processing. The found data sets schematically are displayed on the web card, at the same time it is possible to look at their description, the attributive table, to subscribe for updates. Besides, on the portal it is possible to store the different documents tied to a certain territory that also facilitates convenience of their search.
