On September 23, 2014 the CROC company and Raffayzenbank bank announced project completion of implementation of DWH of Violin Memory.
Project Results
Raiffeisenbank increased reliability, lowered business costs. More than two hundred offices are transferred to work on technology of a virtual desktop from two data centers in Moscow.
"When each department server, and at employees has individual jobs with data storage on local disks, on a centralized basis it becomes extremely difficult to control availability of bank services and data. For centralization of IT capacities and cutting of costs for their service it was necessary to pass to virtual infrastructure of jobs (VDI) and to seriously upgrade the data warehouse. The choice stood meanwhile in addition to install several classical storage systems, or to pass to DWH, constructed on a flash memory. The last solution cost considerably cheaper and occupied nearly 20 times less physical space. Now regional bank departments do not need to service locally IT capacities, and our 9000 employees can work with the systems of bank far off without difficulties. Besides, use of VDI technology allowed to increase significantly the speed of deployment of new departments and to reduce costs for their operation", - Alexander Kazakov, the head of department technology infrastructure of Raiffeisenbank Ltd comments.
The data warehouse implemented during the complex project consists of four storage systems of Violin Memory 6264 installed generally and reserve data centers.
"We joined in the project at a stage when the customer already understood that disk storage systems of data do not cope with "fighting" loadings. Implementation of DWH constructed completely on a flash memory was, in fact, the only optimal variant of the solution of a problem of virtualization of jobs of employees of the bank. In total implementation of DWH of Violin Memory, data transfer and integration with the system of virtualization it was executed by engineers of the customer and took about a month. Now we perform technical support of the implemented systems in mode 24x7", - Vladimir Kolganov, the head of storage systems of CROC company told.
"Advantages of our solutions managed to estimate more than 300 companies and banks of level Fortune 500. Now of them were convinced also of Russia. At the time of start of the project the CROC company was the only Russian partner of Violin Memory, and implementation of storage systems on a flash memory in Raiffeisenbank became our first Russian project. Thanks to unity and high qualification of a project team all assigned tasks managed to be solved quickly and without problems. Arrays a flash memory of Violin Memory proved to be within this project many times more profitable than classical DWH – both in terms of ensuring the necessary performance, and from a position of costs for implementation and service", - Maxim Zubarev, the chief representative of Violin Memory in Russia and the CIS reported.
