Delta Electronics: Row Cool

Product
Developers: Delta Electronics
Date of the premiere of the system: September, 2014
Technology: UPS - Uninterruptible power supply units

When using traditional cooling systems inevitably there are problems of irrational distribution of heat fluxes and the energy overexpenditure connected with it. Construction of a rack of the Row Cool air cooler allows to direct flows of the cooled air closer to zones of a temperature maximum, and horizontal air supply solves a problem of uneven cooling. Depending on density of loading of the equipment the rotational speed of fans is regulated that allows to reach significant savings of the electric power. Besides, air coolers are easily mounted in DPC with modular structure and reservation according to the scheme N+X.

Construction of RowCool allowing to mount it in standard server racks and also to locate between racks for cooling of adjacent servers at the expense of what more uniform distribution of heat is reached and the problem of high density of power is solved. Use of RowCool air coolers reduces energy consumption by 25%. Besides, modular construction of RowCool allows to scale the cooling system if necessary. Monitoring and control is exercised far off via the SNMP interface that reduces requirement in the presence of personnel for DPC premises.

The RowCool air cooler is connected to two independent electric power supplies that considerably increases reliability of work. At the expense of a possibility of parallel connection stability of a system at failure of one or several devices increases up to 32 RowCool devices according to the scheme of reservation of N+X.

"Expenses on a power supply of cooling systems can make from 35% to 45% of costs for power supply of all DPC, - Charles Tsai, the director of division of infrastructure solutions (MCIS) of Delta Electronics claims. - Increase in density of loading of the equipment of modern DPCs leads to growth of expenses on cooling and creates problems with distribution of heat. The precision RowCool conditioner not only solves these problems, but also ensures trouble-free operation, increasing energy efficiency and flexibility of DPC".

Recently Delta Electronics constructed a data processing center in the to the headquarters where as a basis of a system of precision cooling RowCool air coolers were used. "The indicator of power efficiency of DPC with traditional devices of conditioning often exceeds 2.2 that could be observed also in our previous data center, - Mr. James Chu, the director of public relations of Delta Electronics notes. - At construction of a new data processing center at the beginning of this year we used the system of precision cooling with RowCool air coolers with horizontal giving of a conditioned air. Having located air coolers between servers, we directed flows of a conditioned air in close proximity to them. The system of restriction of distribution of a hot air separates cold and warm zones that leads to more effective work of DPC. As a result the indicator of power efficiency of our new data processing center reached level lower than 1.6. We are complete of determination to optimize work of our DPC and to reach the gold level of efficiency (from 1.25 to 1.43)".

"RowCool air coolers gained recognition of our clients in different areas: biotechnologies, semiconductors, pharmaceutics, electronics, - Dr. Charles Tsai adds. - Besides, the systems of precision cooling Delta use the state organizations, insurance companies and educational institutions in the work. The division of MCIS continues development of systems of precision cooling of different types and capacities in search of ideal solutions for our clients".
