Choosing a Solution

Earlier in holding independent backup procedures for different IT systems were used. To exclude a possibility of loss of important information and to increase controllability, the decision to create a single system of backup and data recovery was made.

Project Progress

The system implemented [^[1] specialists of Compulink Group and Helicopters of Russia, is constructed based on the hardware and software system Symantec NetBackup Appliance and represents the centralized solution integrated with all subsystems of the customer that allows to provide a comprehensive protection of data and to create a uniform point of management. Use of the monovendor solution in the future will simplify system maintenance and will lower operating costs. During the project Compulink Group performed supply of equipment, jointly with specialists of Helicopters of Russia performed commissioning and integration of a new system into corporate IT infrastructure, provided training of specialists of the customer in opportunities of new software. As a result of JSC "Russian Helicopters" received the platform having a broad set of means on backup and recovery.

Result

The new hardware and software system gives the chance to minimize volumes of the stored data due to use of deduplication of backup copies. Data backup of the critical systems is performed in the automatic mode according to the set schedule and without stopping applications.

"Implementation of this project allowed the company to raise the security level and to provide the continuity of business processes. It is also necessary to tell that creation of the centralized solution led to reducing costs for ensuring reservation of IT systems", − the director of the department of operation of information systems and communication of Helicopters of Russia holding Kirill Markevich summed up the project results.
