Alexey Budin: On a joint of BPM and EDMS the interesting synergy effect is gained

The modern electronic document management system is not means of maintenance of work of office, but the effective instrument of decision making for the head and also a method to arrange business processes of the company. About what interesting synergy effect gives use of BPM and SED/ESM in one platform, TAdviser was told by Alexey Budin, the CEO of the Izhevsk company ELMA, the system developer of ELMA BPM Suite.

TAdviser: The solutions ELMA are unique the cross-functionality. We already talked how the solutions ELMA help at automation of BPM and even CRM (see an interview and one more).

Tell, please, about key features of your platform in the field of electronic document management?'
Alexey Budin: Approach of ELMA to implementation of electronic document management systems is very simple: we took our platform for business process management and on its basis implemented processes for the main document flows.

In fact, we had to create mechanisms for typification of documents, building of the nomenclature, to implement ready blocks on work with documents (approval, acquaintance, signing, etc.), and functionality on the movement of documents, to security of access to them already was in the platform, and significantly exceeded by opportunities what usually is required for document flow. As a result ready-made solutions for standard document flows plus Business Process Management Suite in a basis were received.

TAdviser: This joint of technologies – as it is implemented in practice? May you give an example on the example of some specific project how they work together, helping to arrange electronic movement of documents?

Alexey Budin: Of course, here almost standard example from practice. Among our customers there is a company which is engaged in sale of technology products, and sells at once and projects on setup and putting into operation of these products. It is not the micro company with the state in several people and not the leader of the industry, and quite strong player in the market, with positive dynamics of growth and ambitions. Time when became information on activity of the company happy much came, there was a need to arrange it. The logical solution in this situation – to begin to implement systems: CRM, BPM, EDMS, project managements. At the heart of activity automation, of course, there is desire to build processes. It is quite logical to look for the solution which will allow to do less integration for such purposes and at the same time allows to solve several problems. Exactly here the joint of technologies which at the same time allows to reduce ownership cost in difference from use of several independent IT systems gives a prize.

TAdviser: What technologies in the market of EDMS to you seem the most unpromising? How in connection with these does road map on development of your platform look?

Alexey Budin: The most perspective in the market of internal document flow our company sees the concept of the solution at which the EDMS system stops being a primary window in which it is necessary to look and around which everything is built. Modern requirements to a system consist in that the manager could make decisions on the basis of the facts in time. It is very important. The head should tell "Yes", and we should record it, including those cases when he did not manage to approve something. And it is necessary to give to the company executive tool kit for implementation of similar activity as if that mobile applications, portals, e-mail or others, "nonconventional" for SEDOV interfaces. Use of such tools should be the simplest and not require additional training.

TAdviser: How does it seem you what market prospects of the ECM systems in Russia whether there will be its growth stable, how in previous years?

Alexey Budin: I would speak rather about perspectives of ECM systems in which there is a combination of both classical opportunities for workflow automation, and mechanisms on process management. Such solutions now actively are beyond standard Sedovsky circuits, behind them the future.

TAdviser: According to us, not less than a quarter of demand for EDMS generates state customers. And at you is what to offer a public sector in this plan?

Alexey Budin: This segment of the market as it seems to us, is already rather stable and set of key players in it by and large is created. Too it is interesting to us to work with the state customers, but in our portfolio of such projects – less than a quarter. Would like to note that our solution gives great effect in those state projects where there is a speech about increase in efficiency and process automation.

TAdviser: How does it seem to you if our government takes a tough course towards import substitution whether domestic suppliers will be able to provide requirements of the market in full?

Alexey Budin: Very ambiguously. Good solutions grow only in the conditions of fierce competition. Believe, in solutions of IBM or SAP there is a lot of interesting. If to take and move away them from the market by means of a political will, then it can stimulate business of domestic suppliers in the short term, but in long-term - no.

Already there is an objective protecting barrier to "capture" by foreign products of local market – price. Solutions of the global companies are significantly more expensive domestic, but in general they have also essential advantages to which not all our solutions grew. Disappearance of global competitors from the market will not provide instant ripening of local platforms at all, time for this purpose is necessary. Therefore, strangely enough, in the long term it is even more profitable than a condition of fair competition to development of qualitative domestic solutions.
