Over the last ten years Tarcona used several different tools for a reporting preparation. However in process of growth of business which reached up to 200% a year the company needed the solution which:

Purpose number one system implementation of a financial reporting preparation was of group at the level that was implemented in record time. Use of the installed modules of extraction of data EPM Planning Canvas allowed Tarcona to collect large volume of data for a reporting preparation. On initial stage about 20 key users began to use reports. The cycle of implementation proceeded for two months then Tarcona received full control over the solution and further development.
At the second stage of Tarcona the number of users up to 100 people will increase, will increase the number of reports for everyday use and will provide access for the users who are not connected with finance. Also introduction of optional data from the operating system is planned to have an opportunity to penetrate into an essence of the transactions standing behind digits of financial statements at wider use of the solution EPM Planning Canvas.

Advantages of the modern BI solution

Decrease in time expenditure on drawing up reports became the most notable change after introduction of a system to action. Earlier, when the company worked with reports at the level of group, on updating of only one report Crystal left up to 40 minutes, even despite powerful servers. After transition to a reporting preparation through EPM as HD on updating of each report no more than 10 seconds leave. Now all reporting is formed in the organization by means of simple masters that was one of the main requirements of Tarcona. A possibility of drawing up profits and loss statements after each certain financial analyst in structure of the plan of business accounts was the compulsory provision of the company. EPM Planning Canvas is supported by all eight analyst, used by the company today.

The data security is an important problem for all companies whose activity is in one plane with Tarcona activity. The solution allows not only to issue permissions to use of the reporting, but also to get access to each separate analytics of the data warehouse and to control what users or roles can use these data.

Interview with Margus Lutsoja, chief accountant of the Gunvor Group group

1. What circumstances forced you to begin search of the software solution?
We needed to accelerate process of drawing up the reports which are used when closing the Ledger. On updating of basic reports minutes, even left just to invert the report, even when it was already exported to Excel. Now for this purpose only several seconds are required that, in our opinion, is acceptable speed. Reports were formed for 50 companies, and we have rather difficult Ledger.

2. Whether you considered other software packages or solutions?
We were in the course of the beginning of work with SAP Business Objects when at the Epicor conference we for the first time saw the solution DSPanel. Also we considered the possibility of use of Biznet/XLConnect and Qlikview. We even considered the possibility of development of our own solution based on Cube. An opportunity to begin to use the solution as soon as possible was a decisive factor for us.

3. What is the time passed from a decision instant about use of Epicor prior to use of the first solution?
The decision was made in June, and reports are complete in August. We could begin to use it at the end of August, but we wanted to make some minor changes therefore actually we began to use reports in October. From our party process was inadvertently dragged out by the period of summer holidays.

4. How fully the software solution met your expectations?
All of us even in the course of implementation, but so far it met our expectations for all 100%. It was even slightly better, than we expected!

5. May you select advantages of the solution?
Definitely yes, as this very good price relation and qualities.

6. Why you would recommend this software solution to other companies?
Implementation for the Ledger took place quickly. We have very difficult Ledger, with a large number of measurements, the list of accounts for a local and group reporting preparation. But now, when we use the editor of reports, it is easy and logical to work with him. It is the tool allowing the accountant to carry out daily tasks without the need for work with technical aspect. Some technical knowledge after all is necessary, but for the majority it is possible.
