2018: Inbox Waiver Plan

2014: Announcement of Inbo e-mail service

On October 22, 2014, Google introduced the Inbox email service. According to the company's statement on the corporate blog, the service will complement the current Gmail service.

Developers emphasize that there is a resemblance to Gmail, but this is a completely new type of mailbox, aimed at important aspects of actions, helping users in finding information among many messages, in solving everyday tasks, including from a mobile device.

The Inbox concept includes four main elements: Shortcuts, Smart Mail, Reminders, and Deferred.

• "Shortcuts" (Bundles) - the function of automatic sorting of messages - is in Gmail. The innovation is that the company has increased the number of folders (added folders "Promotions," "Purchases," "Travel"). For the user, they retained the ability to create their own folders and automatically sort.
• "Smart Mail" (Highlights) - borrowed from Google Now. The service will remind the user:
• book a table in a restaurant,
• about the beginning of electronic check-in for the flight,
• about calling parents.

At the same time, the service will tell the phone and the time of the restaurant, attach a fragment of the card to the online order, a link to the electronic registration page or a page with the contacts of parents in the address book of the smartphone.

• Snooze - "Deferred." If the user is busy or does not want to be disturbed, he can turn on Snooze mode, which postpones viewing emails and reminders. It can configure Snooze to enable and disable Snooze at a specific time or when a user appears at a specific location.

• Reminders - This feature will help you create reminders within the application that are placed at the top of the list. When you create a dunning notice, Inbox automatically adds related information. This function also works with postal messages: when you receive confirmation of booking a table in a restaurant, the application will attach a travel card to this institution.

Advantages

One of the functions of Inbox is the advanced automatic sorting of letters by category. The company launched auto sorting in Gmail in 2013 - there will be more categories in Inbox. Custom mail grouping settings become available.

The product provides support for informing about related events or facts: real-time flight information, package delivery status, which makes Inbox similar to Google Now and its information cards.

The main difference between Inbox and Gmail is the lack of advertising for the near future, at least.

Starting October 22, 2014, Inbox is available on Android and iOS platforms, in the Chrome browser. But you can use Inbox as a service only by invitation from Google.
