Cisco implemented Cisco ASR 5000 in Orange Slovakia company

On October 29, 2014 Orange Slovakia selected an expanded core of a packet network (evolved packet core, EPC) Cisco ASR 5000 as a basic element for LTE 4G network which is recently put into operation.

Goals and Objectives

Using Cisco ASR 5000, Orange Slovakia she intends to bring closer as much as possible at the minimum investments possibilities of the mobile network to opportunities of wire connections.

The elasticity of the solution Cisco will allow Orange Slovakia to transform the architecture and without effort to transfer mobile traffic from the existing networks 2G and 3G. Thanks to this Orange Slovakia it will be able to be prepared for the intercomputer communication (M2M) and the Comprehensive Internet.

Project Progress

According to the report of Cisco VNI ("The index of development of visual network technologies"), during 2013-2018 the volume of global mobile traffic will increase almost by 11 times. At the same time the annual average growth rate of mobile traffic will be 61%, and by 2018 its volume will reach 15.9 exabytes a month. According to the same research, in Central and Eastern Europe the growth rate of mobile traffic will be higher than average world: in this region volume will increase by 13 times. By 2018 in in Central and Eastern Europe 29% of total amount of mobile traffic (by the end of 2013 this indicator was 3%) will fall to the share of traffic 4G.

At connection of new devices to mobile networks new, less predictable profiles of traffic appear. Cisco ASR 5000 represents the elastic solution selecting resources on demand depending on transactions, capacity and sessions in diverse networks. It the politician (PCEF) and deep check of packets (DPI) allows to support such services as application and observance, providing at the same time the high level of reliability and availability.

Cisco ASR 5000 integrates several functions of an expanded core of a packet network in a single platform, helping the operator to reduce total cost of ownership considerably. Thanks to the solution Cisco the Orange Slovakia company will be able to manage more effectively high signal load, to scale network in process of growth of number of subscribers and to provide high quality of services in different networks with personalisation in real time.

Cisco ASR 5000, industry-leading expanded core of a packet network, is created for implementation of software-defined networks and virtualization of network functions of an operator class. With its help telecom operators can quickly scale the systems against the background of increase in demand for services of the mobile Internet.

According to the associate director of Orange Slovakia on IT Eric Maintenay, "extremely convenient providing necessary services was our purpose always as it is possible for bigger number of users. We want that service quality of Orange was the highest and therefore Orange has the most extensive customer base in the field of the mobile Internet in Slovakia. Thanks to new technologies we will be able to provide to subscribers faster and reliable connection to the Internet irrespective of their arrangement. More than a half of our clients use smartphones, and new technologies will allow them to take a maximum from the devices. 25% of residents of 13 Slovak cities can use 4G network already. By the end of the year Orange will make this network available in 24 cities, i.e. for 30% of the population of the country".
